1. Save NASA Climate Research Budget

Bob Walker, a Trump senior advisor, stated that the NASA Earth Science Division will be stripped of all funding.

This would mean the elimination of Nasa’s world-renowned research into weather, temperature, ice, clouds, soil and water conditions, and other climate related phenomena. Nasa’s network of satellites provides a wealth of information on weather and climate events.

According to Kevin Trenberth, senior scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, ”NASA provides the scientific community with new instruments and techniques, and the elimination of Earth sciences would be “a major setback if not devastating”. “It could put us back into the ‘dark ages’ of almost the pre-satellite era,” he said.

Over the coming decades, NASA and the Agency's research partners will continue to pioneer the use of both spaceborne and aircraft measurements to characterize, understand, and predict variability and trends in Earth's weather, soil, and ocean system for both research and critically important areas ranging from farming applications to natural disaster predictions and planning.

Earth is our lifeboat in the vast expanse of space. Over the past 50 years, world population has doubled, grain yields have tripled and economic output has grown sevenfold. Earth science research can help us understand and how the Earth can sustain this growth in the future. In addition, over a 1/3 of the US economy - $3 trillion annually - is influenced by climate, weather, and natural hazards, providing economic incentive to study the Earth.

This is not a political issue. This organization does pure research about our planet. This information is used by scientists, businesses, meteorologists, fishermen, and farmers around the world.

2. Bring Tim Drawbridge Back to Mornings

Tim Drawbridge is not only a great weatherman but he is also professional, accurate, extremely friendly, committed, and very informative on his Facebook and Twitter Pages.

His fans are lost without his constant weather and traffic updates every morning... faithfully! We need him back on the mornings!

3. Builde better Natural Disaster Response Agencies

Many natural disasters are occurring in areas unexpectedly.

Since the nineteen eighties the cost related to natural disasters has increased from fifty billion to two hundred billion in the last decade.

4. Stop Postal carriers from working in harsh weather conditions

My mom works for the US postal service and has suffered injuries. I don't want injuries for other workers.

I am 12 yrs old and my mom has worked for the post office for 14 years and I'm tired of her having to suffer with her injury to her back.

She doesn't know about the petition but I want it to be a surprise so please sign my petition.

5. Doppler Radar for Western Australia

A Doppler Radar is needed across Western Australia due to the Extent and regular occurrence of Tropical Cyclones in the North West and also Severe Winter Storms in the Southern Parts of the State.

Western Australia records quite a few Tornados each Winter across Southern Western Australia and having the Ability to track potential Systems is Required.

6. Approve Skatepark Plans

Business plans for an indoor skate park are in the process of being made.

We need your signature to help approve planning permission and get this idea off the ground. The skate park will be a friendly, well supervised environment for yourselves and your children/family with activities throughout the year! (especially winter and rainy days).

Help make this happen!

7. Stop the Blackout of WTHR to Dish Network

Dispatch Broadcasting wants to charge Dish Network a 350%+ price increase to carry their channels! Dish refuses to pass that fee on to their customers so they have declined Dispatch broadcasting's offer and now Dispatch Broadcasting has blacked out WTHR, Indianapolis' NBC affiliate.

Dispatch Broadcasting and WTHR claim that the consumers aren't losing out because we can acquire their signal for free with a digital antenna. This is NOT true as many people, including myself, get every channel but WTHR! They also claim that we can stream it online, and yes we can, but I for one am hearing impaired and there are no captioning options for streaming live TV.

Dispatch Broadcasting is putting greed over providing for their loyal viewers. They may be trying to punish Dish Network, but in the end its only the customers who lose out!

Dispatch Broadcasting runs free over the air channels and wants a huge price increase for a FREE channel! These channels are filled with commercials and advertisement which should MORE than provide enough income for them!

8. Southeastern Railways should improve services to passengers during bad weather

During the recent wintry weather, Southeastern Trains provided a poor service to the people of Lewisham.

In addition to a poor train service, they failed to provide an adequate service in terms of informing passengers of delays and cancellations.

9. School owners should take notice of severe weather

Today snow fell thickly in Aberdeenshire, but Portlethen Academy was left open. All the other schools (bar one other) in Aberdeenshire had closed.

I was told this was because our school is owned by the company 'Robertsons', not the council, and it was their decision to close us up for a snow day.

But, Robertsons didn't send us home until lunch time because it would cost them money to send us home.

10. Global Peace by All Means

The destruction of mankind on this planet, because of sheer human stupidity of destroying the Oxygen we breathe through unbridled Pollution, is now very real, and within our own sights.

Governments are lying by deluding the peoples of the world into a false sense of fraudulent security. We have no time left.

11. Students should be allowed inside!

It's a dark stormy day. Many students sit shivering in a small covered area.. hoping that they will be let inside.

The students at Stawamus Elementary have had to suffer by being sent out into the cold at many times:when they arrive at school, at recess, at lunch...

All they ask is to be let inside when the weather is bad. Have we gotten what we wanted? No. We have been told to put on our jackets and go outside. Please sign this petition so that students at Stawamus will have a chance to be let inside during those horribly stormy cold days.

12. Concerned American Venice Citizens

We are in agreement with the town of Babylon that the American Venice is one of the most unique residential communities in Long Island, which is one of the reasons we the homeowners were drawn to this waterfront community.

However our main concern is the flood situation that we are all affected by every time the moon is out or we have north east wind. The tide water comes up from the sewers, under ground and over the bulk heads.

These floods keep mailman from coming in. We have to walk through wading water to get in front doors, or in cars. Most of the time we have to park cars three blocks away because you can’t drive through. Crawl spaces are full of water all the time, which create a health hazard and our lawns are inundated so bad you can’t even let your animal out or enjoy your back yards. Garbage cans float, and some of our neighbors are having trouble selling, because of high insurance cost.

When the weather prediction is “possible flooding conditions” Sleepless nights are spent, making sure your vehicles are not under water, or worst going out in the middle of the night in twenty degree weather because water came up so high that everyone got caught off guard and have to start emptying out their garages and move their cars.

Would we prefer to have a park and a Historical Preservation or Preserve our community?

13. BBC News Cheshire

July 26, 2006

Cheshire is the only county in England that does not have its own dedicated news page on the BBC.

Surfers seeking news from Chester, Nantwich, Wilmslow, Vale Royal, Macclesfield, Crewe, Congleton etc, are forced to search for local news on the news pages for Merseyside, Manchester and Staffordshire.

Even then, coverage is very sparse, compared to news reporting from the major towns in the adjoining regions. Cheshire is a very large county and deserves its own coverage as much as the other English counties. Local news for local people!

Complaining individually to the BBC produces one of the following responses:
- we don't know why there is there no Cheshire coverage, we'll look into it.
- please look on the news pages for adjacent counties.
- it's not viable.

Why is it not viable? We are licence payers - we deserve equality of coverage. The BBC's attitude is disgraceful at best.

The BBC website also does not provide coverage for Cheshire regarding non-news, such as its "What's On" pages - typing in your postcode directs you to the nearest major town in an adjacent county.

Furthermore, there is no BBC Cheshire radio station and searching the BBC website for information on Cheshire weather displays weather maps for Liverpool to Glasgow, North Wales or Staffordshire, none of which show any Cheshire towns.

14. Bush Must Resign

September 3, 2005

George W. Bush
The White House
1600 Pennsylvania Avenue NW
Washington, DC 20500

Mr. President:

I, like millions of other Americans and people worldwide, have watched with horror over the past few days as the events in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast have unfolded. The images of suffering and neglect endured by some of our nation's most vulnerable have been seared into my memory and I will not soon forget them.

Mr. President, you have a long history of refusing to accept responsibility when the bungling of your administration and the failures of your policies have damaged our country, threatened our security and brought great harm to our people and to people throughout the world. From the debacle in Iraq to the ever rising number of people living in poverty in our country to the current abysmal failure to bring emergency assistance to New Orleans, you and your administration have repeatedly used any means possible to avoid being held accountable for your actions.

As a citizen who loves my country, I can no longer accept this. I am unwilling to tolerate the unnecessary suffering, death and destruction in New Orleans due to you and your administration's delayed and inept response.

There is no excuse for this appalling catastrophe. This time, you cannot attribute your own failure to someone else. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) website states the following: "In the event of a terrorist attack, natural disaster or other large-scale emergency, the Department of Homeland Security will assume primary responsibility on March 1st for ensuring that emergency response professionals are prepared for any situation. This will entail providing a coordinated, comprehensive federal response to any large-scale crisis and mounting a swift and effective recovery effort."

You are ultimately responsible for DHS; therefore, you bear the primary responsibility for your administration's failure to mount a swift and effective recovery effort.

No one could have prevented the damage caused by the hurricane. However, the results of the storm and its aftermath, including the potential for the flood control system in New Orleans to fail, were well known and well reported. On the Sunday before the storm struck, the National Weather service issued this bulletin:

"URGENT - WEATHER MESSAGE
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE NEW ORLEANS LA
1011 AM CDT SUN AUG 28 2005

...DEVASTATING DAMAGE EXPECTED... .HURRICANE KATRINA...A MOST POWERFUL HURRICANE WITH UNPRECEDENTED STRENGTH...RIVALING THE INTENSITY OF HURRICANE CAMILLE OF 1969. MOST OF THE AREA WILL BE UNINHABITABLE FOR WEEKS...PERHAPS LONGER. AT LEAST ONE HALF OF WELL CONSTRUCTED HOMES WILL HAVE ROOF AND WALL FAILURE. ALL GABLED ROOFS WILL FAIL...LEAVING THOSE HOMES SEVERELY DAMAGED OR DESTROYED. THE MAJORITY OF INDUSTRIAL BUILDINGS WILL BECOME NON FUNCTIONAL. PARTIAL TO COMPLETE WALL AND ROOF FAILURE IS EXPECTED. ALL WOOD FRAMED LOW RISING APARTMENT BUILDINGS WILL BE DESTROYED. CONCRETE BLOCK LOW RISE APARTMENTS WILL SUSTAIN MAJOR DAMAGE...INCLUDING SOME WALL AND ROOF FAILURE. HIGH RISE OFFICE AND APARTMENT BUILDINGS WILL SWAY DANGEROUSLY...A FEW TO THE POINT OF TOTAL COLLAPSE. ALL WINDOWS WILL BLOW OUT. AIRBORNE DEBRIS WILL BE WIDESPREAD...AND MAY INCLUDE HEAVY ITEMS SUCH AS HOUSEHOLD APPLIANCES AND EVEN LIGHT VEHICLES. SPORT UTILITY VEHICLES AND LIGHT TRUCKS WILL BE MOVED. THE BLOWN DEBRIS WILL CREATE ADDITIONAL DESTRUCTION. PERSONS...PETS...AND LIVESTOCK EXPOSED TO THE WINDS WILL FACE CERTAIN DEATH IF STRUCK. POWER OUTAGES WILL LAST FOR WEEKS...AS MOST POWER POLES WILL BE DOWN AND TRANSFORMERS DESTROYED. WATER SHORTAGES WILL MAKE HUMAN SUFFERING INCREDIBLE BY MODERN STANDARDS. THE VAST MAJORITY OF NATIVE TREES WILL BE SNAPPED OR UPROOTED. ONLY THE HEARTIEST WILL REMAIN STANDING...BUT BE TOTALLY DEFOLIATED. FEW CROPS WILL REMAIN. LIVESTOCK LEFT EXPOSED TO THE WINDS WILL BE KILLED. AN INLAND HURRICANE WIND WARNING IS ISSUED WHEN SUSTAINED WINDS NEAR HURRICANE FORCE...OR FREQUENT GUSTS AT OR ABOVE HURRICANE FORCE...ARE CERTAIN WITHIN THE NEXT 12 TO 24 HOURS. ONCE TROPICAL STORM AND HURRICANE FORCE WINDS ONSET...DO NOT VENTURE OUTSIDE!"

In response to that warning, you chose to remain on vacation for another three days while the storm struck, the city flooded and the devastation mounted. Your Vice-President and Secretary of State also chose to vacation.

Mr. President, if I stayed on vacation while my employer faced one of its greatest threats ever, I would be fired.

Because of your incompetence and callousness, thousands of people lived though hellish conditions. Because of your policies, the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) had been gutted and political appointees with little to no prior experience in disaster management had been placed in charge of FEMA long before Katrina ever struck. Because FEMA could not respond appropriately and in a timely manner, thousands in New Orleans died. Many more lost loved ones.

Mr. President, since it appears that your vacations are very important to you, I invite you to remain on vacation permanently.

For gross incompetence, negligence, lack of compassion and demonstrable policy failure, I and those who have signed below demand that you resign immediately. We also demand the resignations of Vice-President, Dick Cheney; Secretary of State, Condoleezza Rice; Secretary of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff; and Under Secretary for FEMA, Michael Brown.

Please know we will use whatever legal means necessary to rid our great country of the scourge you have brought to it. That begins by removing you from office.

Sincerely,

Chris Jimmerson

15. Keep bbc new weather graphics

The new weather graphics make everything look so much better - we need to keep them.

16. Petition for clear, informative, detailed, BBC Weather forecasts

On Monday May the 16th 2005 the BBC changed the format of their TV and web weather forecasts.

As part of this change the BBC no longer considered synoptics charts, wind velocities and weather front information a normal part of its TV forecasts. What information they did provide was presented hastily as a confusing mix of animated graphics on a muddy coloured, distorted map, that gave little space to show weather information for anywhere north of the midlands.

The aim of this petition is to show the BBC that they grossly misunderstood the requirements of their viewers.

The new forecasts disenfranchise those viewers who rely on accurate weather information for their businesses, sports and hobbies. They have also made some Scottish viewers think they are no longer important enough to be given equal billing with the Home Counties.

The BBC should return to providing clear detailed information in their weather forecasts, namely:
1. Show isobar charts including weather fronts and pressure readings.
2. Show numerical wind speeds and directions, even for winds less than 5mph.
3. Use a map where equal emphasis is given to the view of the whole of the UK.
4. Pace any animated forecasts slow enough so that the viewer can easily follow the moving images and changing time information.

17. Bring Back the old style BBC Weather Graphics

The BBC has, this week, introduced new graphics for it's weather forecast, replacing the old symbols. The new graphics are inferior to the old system. The new graphics are confusing, and more difficult to understand than the old system. Scotland is shown in the distance, and is difficult to see. The representation of wind is not as clear as the old system. Cloud is shown as shadows, which is impossible to see clearly if the whole country is in cloud. The 3D movement around the country is disorientating to the viewer.

In short, the new system is a confusing waste of money, that may look flash compared to the old method, but isn't anywhere near as good at displaying the weather as the old system of symbols, which we want back so we can understand the weather clearly again.

18. CityRail Trains Never on time

NSW Transport Minister Michael Costa has become the "Goldilocks" of state parliament, with conditions either too hot or too wet for Sydney's trains to run on time, the state opposition said.

Releasing coalition figures, opposition transport spokesman Mike Gallacher said that just under one million people ran late on the city's rail system this week, as 1,100 trains ran four minutes or more behind schedule.

Of the 925,000 people in Sydney the opposition estimated ran late, more than 400,000 people were delayed by 10 minutes or more, Mr Gallacher said.

"This week, without a doubt, goes down as the worst week in recent history for the NSW public transport system," he told reporters in parliament.

"On October 1, CityRail blamed the weather ... they said the wet weather was responsible a 10 per cent (of trains running on time) result.

"On October 13, the hottest day recorded, once again they blamed the weather.

Blame Who? We just want our trains to run on time. I'm sure our tax dollars can give us this.

Sign the petiton and let your say be heard.

19. Extend the School Year

Due to inclement weather the amount of school days in our present year has been greatly delined. The only people who suffer is the children for their lack of education. This petition will be put forward to extend the school year.

20. Keep ABC 33/40 in Birmingham, AL

We in Birmingham and the surrounding area are writing the petition to keep our local ABC 33/40 Birmingham, AL station on Dishnetwork. We in these said areas depend on this station for our local weather and news. Especially during times of dangeroys weather seasons. Thank your for your consideration.
