1. Licence to own or breed dogs

Did you know over 300 stray dogs are found each day in the UK? Sadly over 20 are put down...that's one an hour - every single day!

If there was a law that only licensed breeders could breed dogs and all other dogs had to be neutered, there would be much less unwanted dogs.

I want to bring back the dog license &:
-License to own a dangerous dog
-License to breed dogs
-Compulsory neutering
-Training to pass to ensure only responsible people get a dog license.

Something needs to change, we need to act now to help make a 'dog's life' a good life!

Don't breed or buy while thousands die.... rescue a dog instead.

2. My Montréal includes ALL dogs | Montréal: Ma ville inclut TOUS les chiens

To Denis Coderre (Mayor of Montréal, Québec, Canada):

If you and your city council politicians insist on restricting and banning dogs because of the way they look, then we and all of OUR friends will choose not to contribute to the City of Montreal tourism revenue.

As long as you have breed-specific language in your laws, we will boycott the city of Montreal.

We will not condone the discrimination created by you, Mayor Coderre, and your political friends. You already know from every expert that this type of legislation does not improve public safety.

Instead of implementing proven bylaws and programs that work, as long as you are willing to take the lazy approach to public safety, killing thousands of unoffending family pets in order to look like you are "doing something", then you, your city council, and your city do not deserve our money.

My Montréal includes ALL dogs!

3. Free the breed in Ontario: and repeal the pitbull ban

The Ontario government has no right to say who or what is allowed to live in the province.

We the people need to stand up for what's right. The pitbull ban is unjust and it gives the SPCA more powers then the police as they dont need a warrant to come into your house.

I've seen to many innocent dogs killed by the largest dog killer in Canada, the Ontario government.

I want to see the breed free and I thank everyone who signs this petition. Breed specific legislation is horrifying.

4. Stop Staffie Prejudice on TV

This morning I was watching Lorraine and the two people discussing the news story about the child attacked by a Staffie made comments like "I just don't understand why any one would want to own one of those kinds of dogs when they are so dangerous" and "You just don't get aggressive Labradors".

If you think those comments are correct then walk away and continue to lead a narrow minded life but if you think that it should be deed not breed then please sign so we can get a proper apology from the show and maybe they can get someone who actually knows about dogs to give people the facts!

5. Remove ban on pitbull and pitbull type dogs

Banning pitbulls and pitbulls types because some have bitten people would be like killing all people from Iraq, Pakistan, Libya etc because they must be a terrorist.

I've lived with pitbull type dogs all my life and I trust them more than the so said family dog ; golden retriever.

6. Say NO to breed banning!

The media and the inexperienced would have you believe that these breeds are vicious and should be prohibited. However, these breeds as a whole have proven their stability and good canine citizenry by becoming Search and Rescue dogs, Therapy Dogs, by working inside hospitals, and being used as professional herding and sporting dogs, as well as by serving families as faithful and sound companions for years.

Our Country was not founded on the restriction and punishment of the masses based on the actions of a few.... when has this changed? Statistics and studies do not support the assertion that any one breed is dangerous. When legislation is focused on the type of dog it fails, because it is...unenforceable, confusing, and costly. Focusing legislation on dogs that are "vicious" distracts attention from the real problem, which is irresponsible owners.

We suggest that the appropriate policy should be "blame the owner, not the dog." Owners can and should take responsibility for their pets. The legislation that is both enacted and proposed across Canada is unfair for responsible citizens and it addresses the wrong problem. Voting for and standing behind BSL only harms the law abiding responsible dog owner. We stand to loose many wonderful and valuable canines if the Breed Specific Legislation is allowed to continue. Thank You.

7. Lift The ban against pit bulls in QLD

Discrimination is a Matter Of Life and Death to a Dog!!

Pitbulls have been Falsly accused of being a dangerous dog. Statistics and evidence is lacking to confirm that they are, There are so many Unsung hero's (apbt's) out there that fail to get a mention in the media, Most dog attacks that have happened have been cross breed dogs! It is not fair to Outlaw a specific breed of dog.

There is no such thing as a bad breed of dog, But a bad dog in EVERY breed! Owners should be punished for irresponsable ownersip! Not the dogs. Please help lift this ban and save innocent dogs lives! They dont have a voice But we do! every animal deserves a Fair life who are we to say they Cant!

If you agree for the right to life ten please sign my petition.

8. Enact Leash Laws for dogs

Oak Grove, KY is a rapidly growing area and needs to adopt a leash law for the safety of the citizens and the animals. Animals roaming free are more likely to come into contact with known rabies carriers such as skunks and raccoons. They are also more likely to spread parasites and other diseases to animals and humans.

Each year, free roaming animals cause millions of dollars in insurance claims, property loss and damage, medical bills, and loss of productivity. Animal bite injuries, property damage, and car accidents are major problems caused by animals allowed to run at large. Free-roaming dogs are a danger to local wildlife, they are traffic hazards, they spread disease and breed (causing an overpopulation problem) and in addition, some people just do NOT want these pests in their yard.

Dog owners, we therefore ask that you please have some consideration and either keep your dog indoors or put your dog on a leash when you let it out. We the undersigned feel that while it is everyone's individual right to own a pet, not everyone wants to come into contact with everyone else's pet.

Therefore, we would like to see a LEASH LAW enacted for dogs. We would like to see some official legislation on this topic.

9. Punish The Deed, Not The Breed

Our Government has put bans or restrictions on the ownership of at least 75 breeds of dogs all over the country. For all the human errors that have happened over the years, you, our Government, has decided to take actions against the animals.

As a pet owner, I know that our pets respond to how we, as owners, treat them. Most, if not all of our pets have to be taught how to behave, play, and interact with other animals and/or humans. It is of human fault that these animals either fight other animals or attack a person.

Make the person responsible for the neglect and abuse they put the animal(s) through, don't punish these 75 breeds of loyal and loving companions by labeling them as "vicious" and banning them.

10. Tennessee DOES NOT have the right to ban Pit Bulls!!

The reason for this petition is because State of TN is trying to pass a bill as of July 2008 that would say anyone simply owning a pit bull would be charged with a misdemeanor! I thought this was AMERICA.. I thought we were FREE!!

It all depends on how you raise a dog? I have seen other breeds of dogs kill innocent children and why aren't their breed being targeted? This just isn't fair!!!

Who said they can tell us we cant own a certain breed of dog? My pit bull is 12 weeks old and is MY DAUGHTER and I will fight for her!

11. Ban aggressive dog breeds in the UK

The government has taken several steps to try to crack down on those who breed and trade dangerous dogs, as well as those who own them.

The Dangerous Dogs Act 1991 is the most prominent of the various laws that cover dog ownership in the UK.

The act bans the breeding and sale or exchange of four kinds of dog - pit bull terriers, Japanese Tosas, the Dogo Argentinos, and the Fila Brasileiros. Cross-breeds of those dogs are covered by the law.

The dangerous dogs Act 1991 states 'to enable restrictions to be imposed in relation to other types of dog which present a serious danger to the public;'

[25th July 1991]

Rottweilers were the number two breed of dog named in fatal human attacks from 1979 to 1998 in a report by the CDC. Dangerous behavior in Rottweilers results from their original breeding for aggressive guard dog traits. This tendency may extend towards other animals as well. Often injuries and maulings occur when an owner or passerby tries to separate fighting dogs, or unintentionally triggers a guarding behavior in a dog. In most cases, the type of behavior a Rottweiler exhibits is the result of past training (or lack thereof).

Rottweilers may either be dangerous or benign, depending on the action taken by the owner in socializing the dog. The portrayal of Rottweilers as evil dogs in several fictional films and TV series, most notably in The Omen, has added to their negative publicity. Rottweilers are banned in many municipalities, some scattered countries, and are sometimes targeted as dangerous dogs by legislation. Many owners of Rottweilers are forced to obey state leash/muzzle laws, as in Germany and in France.

Examples of the breed’s potential danger are provided by the recent deaths of two infants on 29 December 2007 – a 9 week old girl in Melbourne, Australia, and a one year old boy in Wakefield, England.

In the Melbourne death, a rottweiler that regularly showed his aggressive nature by violently barking and jumping at the fence as people walked by his master’s house, took the family’s first born from her cot and mauled her to death.

In the Wakefield death, the one year old baby was being held by a seven year old girl when the rottweiler bitch grabbed him from the girl's arms and then mauled him, inflicting terrible injuries. The victim died at the local hospital a short time later. The family owning the dog, reportedly told police she had not previously shown any signs of aggression.

12. Blame the deed not the breed!

I use to hate Pits and was for BSL. Until me and my mother happend to drive by brookshires and see a guy selling puppies for $150.

So I told my mom I wanted a puppy but she said they are Pits and she knew how I felt about them. I figured if I raise one then maybe I would not be so scared. So I got this little puppy and I named him Oreo. I love him with all my heart and the first person to try and get my dog from me will have to kill me first. They are the sweetest and most kindest dogs that you will meet. Its just on how they are raised.

Blame The Deed Not The Breed!

13. Make Pit Bulls Legal In Addison, IL!

Please! Help me make it legal to own a pit bull in the City of Addison, IL!

Pit bulls are one of the greatest dogs you could ever want! They are sweet, smart, loving, gentle, and most of all, NOT human aggressive!

Don't punish the breed, punish the deed!

According to studies, you are more likely to get attacked by a Collie (Lassie dog) then by a pit bull.

Don't judge a dog by it's looks! After all, how would you like it if the government decided to ban YOUR dog? Wouldn't you do anything to fight a law like that? Please help me rid Addison of the Pit Bull ban.

Thank you so much!

Here is a copy of the Addison village ordinance reguarding pitbulls:

"Sec. 4-27. Keeping of Dangerous, Vicious, or Wild/Feral Animals or Fowl. [back to top]

No person, business association, or corporation may keep any dangerous or vicious animals, which include (a) any animal that poses a danger or hazard to humans; (b) any lion, tiger, leopard, ocelot, jaguar, cheetah, margay, mountain lion, Canada lynx, bobcat, jaguarundi, hyena or coyote, wolf or any part breed or full bred American Stafford terrier, bull terrier, American pit bull terrier, bull terrier or Staffordshire bull terrier (commonly known as a pit bull);(c) certain primates, (i.e. monkeys, chimpanzees, or gorillas); (d) reptiles, including constricting or poisonous snakes (such as pythons and boa constrictors), venomous snakes or lizards (such as cobras, rattlesnakes and water moccasins or Gila monsters), any other species of snake or lizard exceeding two feet in length, or reptiles in the alligator/crocodile family; (e) bears, horses/ponies, sheep, poisonous insects, wild pigs, hunting birds (i.e., falcons, hawks), goats, fox, skunks, raccoons, opossums; (f) spiders, tarantulas or other insects; or (g) any other type of animal or fowl (chickens, ducks, geese, guinea hens, pigeons or similar fowl), which is generally classified as an undomesticated animal or fowl (even though some individual members may be domesticated with proper training) or any other nontraditional domesticated animal or fowl in any place other than a properly maintained zoological park, circus, scientific or educational institution, research laboratory, veterinary hospital or animal refuge. (Ord. 85-35, 93-55, 02-37, 04-40)"

14. NO BAN FOR PITBULLS OR BREEDERS

I AM A BREEDER OF PITPULLS AND HAVE BRED THEM A LONG TIME. IT'S FROM MY OWN PERSONAL EXPERIENCE THAT I WRITE THIS:

I FEEL THAT BSL IS NOT GIVING THIS BREED OR ANY OTHER BREEDS (AKA ROTTIS, DOBERMANS OR OTHER LARGE BREEDS OF DOGS) A FAIR CHANCE. THEY ARE JUMPIN THE GUN.

I LIVE WITH PITTBULLS MY WHOLE LIFE AND KNOW PEOPLE WHO HAVE BREED ROTTS ALSO,AND I HAVE SEEN THEM GO AFTER PEOPLE BUT I WAS WHEN THEY WERE INTIMADATED BY THESE PEOPLE OR OTHER DOGS. I DONT THINK THAT THESE BREEDS HAVE BEEN REALLY RESEARCHED ENOUGH TO BE JUDGED. WE HAVE RESCUE DOGS THAT ARE PITTS IN THE COMMUNITY AND OUR BOMB DOGS ARE PITS AS WELL.

I WISH THE LEGISLATERS WOULD REALLY GO ON THE INSIDE AND LOOK OUT INSTEAD OF LOOKING IN. I COUNT MYSELF WHEN I SAY THIS IF YOU TAKE MY DOGS ITS LIKE YOUR TAKING MY CHILDREN,AND WHEN YOU HURT PEOPLE THAT ARE COLSE OR EVEN A ANIMAL THAT YOU HAVE ALOT OF TIME INVESTED IT YOU RETALIATE.IT THE BREEDERS THAT NEED TO BE PUNISHED NOT THE BREED.

I KNOW I CAN GET ALOT OF BACK UP ON THIS PETITION. WHERE I LIVE THERE IS MORE PITTBULLS THEN CATS AND NO1 IS SCARED TO WALK DOWN THE STREETS OR TO GO TO SOME1S HOUSE. IF PEOPLE WOULD RESPECT SIGNS THAT ARE POSTED AND OWNERS WOULD OBEY LEASH LAWS THIS CAN ALL COME TO END.

16. Keep Ace Bridges in Maxwell

Dec 26, 2005

Ace Bridges is a Staffordshire terrier, which is a breed of pit bull. Ace is not a harmful dog, although he has been labeled one because of his breed. He has been around other dogs, big and small. He has been around children and adults. He has never harmed anyone, Ace doesn't even bark.

This dog is all his owner, Gerald Bridges, has. Gerald knows that this dog is not vicious and he does not want to give him up, but the city is asking him to remove Ace or else they will forcefully remove the dog from Gerald's home and have Ace put down.

As a fellow citizen, I am telling you that there is no need for this dog to be removed from within city limits. This is the calmest dog I have ever seen. I am asking you to sign this petition in hopes to let Gerald Bridges keep Ace in his home.

17. Stop Pitt Bull ban!

This petition is to help the wonderfull breed of pitt bulls. Owners are the problem, not the breed.

The baby in the picture is my Staffie Zeke.

18. Please Don't Euthanize Pit Bulls By Default

June 23, 2005

Petition to encourage the Michigan Humane Society to stop its policy to euthanize all surrendered or seized pit bulls because of their breed.

19. No More Breed Specific Legislation

Because of the media twisting facts and letting people see and hear what they want them to see and hear they've given a breed a repuation it doesn't deserve.

We the members of the Angel Paws Kennel Club and assorted American Pit Bull Terriers lovers around the world bring you this message.

Think deeply, honestly, and carefully about the breed you are considering passing discrimatory legislation against. It doesn't deserve the reputation street fighters, thugs, idiots, and the opportunistic let-you-see-what-they-want-you-to-see media have forcefully thrown upon it.

You see, this breed was created by old time dog fighters to only be aggressive toward other dogs. Those fighters of old were smart enough to not breed dogs that would put their life or limbs in any sort of danger. And the way the fighting fraternity worked demanded a dog that was docile and amiable in any sort of situation because sometimes they even needed to be handled (medical attention) when they were torn open by another dog and in incredible pain or in the middle of their fight (canine tooth stuck in flew instance).

There developed a dog that was aggressive to other dogs but at the same time extremely docile with humans and dying to please them.

Because they are so eager to please and will do anything their master wants, sick, twisted individuals can teach them that they want them to be vicious toward people (mostly through extremely cruel abuse). So they learn to be mean dogs from their owner. But back up in time and place these dogs in stable homes with families who are competent in the rearing of a canine and these very same dogs would probably grow up to be so human friendly that they wouldn't bite a human for any reason unless it was to protect a family member.

We don't mean this in a rude sense but we suggest you come to understand this breed through research so you can separate fact from fiction and make sound judgment calls that will be to the benefit of all.

You see, you can't blame a dog for what his master does to him. If you don't want Pit Bulls going around biting people, then go after the people that make their dogs that way in the first place. If they can do it with a Pit Bull, they can do it with a Labrador Retriever, a Rottweiler, a Collie, or any dog they please.

Pit Bulls need our help, not our hate.

20. Accepting white (not albino), brindle & solid colors without white in the Rat Terreir standard.

This petition is signed by Rat Terrier Breeders, owners and dog lovers in general.

We are trying to change the color and pattern standards. We think that brindle pattern, the solid white color (NOT ALBINO) and any solid color without the need of white should be accepted in the breed standard.

21. Stop The Bloodhound Breeding in China!

The Chinese Government funded a program to breed bloodhounds at the back of restaurants and then they skin them alive because that's when they're meat's at their juciest...

22. Road rage threatens endangered species

Over the past decade we have gradually seen the phasing out of a fine automobile, "the Magna" Recently numbers appear to be in rapid decline and something must be done to preserve this unique species. Capable of transporting 7 in relative discomfort, losing no traction on beach terrain and surviving a hundred kilo monolithic unit from Orange falling on its roof, the Magna has proven time and again that it is a survivor. Those who own a Magna swear by it, however these individuals are often subject to delusions of its invulnerability and as such often push the Magna to its limits. It is these people that must be identified, they must be held accountable for their actions and the cruelty they inflict upon this species. Only with your support can we save this special breed of car and ensure that future university students have a bucket like the Magna they can call their own. Please help save the Magna!!
