1. Aboriginal Children in Canada Do Not Belong to the Government!

Goal: My goal is for our government to acknowledge and bring awareness to this situation and, for them to at least educate our public and promote awareness on the issue. My ultimate goal is for the government to develop culturally appropriate parenting programs so that these children are raised without neglect and have the same opportunities as any other child.

I have a strong personal connection to this because, I firmly believe that this type of situation should not be happening in our country. Our government needs to address this issue and fulfill it's promise of producing real changes for the Indigenous people of our nation, beginning with the children, our future generation of this country.

2. White Rock Mayor Urged to Approve Medical Marijuana Pilot Project

It is no secret that medical marijuana facilities have been growing in number in BC's Lower Mainland. Many of these facilities have opened and operated without the guidance of their government or local city officials, resulting in certain relaxed operating protocols, miscommunication and facilities being shut down on a frequent basis.

Rather than risking the confusion and inconsistency, communities can initiate a Pilot Project which would allow a Mayor and City Council the opportunity to openly work with a pilot facility, such as Releaf Compassion Centers, to create operating protocols and bylaws.

The pilot facility's operating protocols would be up for public scrutiny and adjustment until the point is reached where the community and the pilot facility no longer have concerns that need addressing. Then all facilities that wish to open within the community will have to abide by those agreed upon standards.

Releaf has requested a Pilot Project with the City of White Rock, believing that it will be an effective solution to creating safe community-based access to medical marijuana that supports the needs and concerns of the everyone.

3. SKN Heritage Museum Community Allotment

Sadly, there aren’t enough allotments in Nottingham to meet demand, so please sign our petition and help us convince Nottingham City Council that there should be a community allotment celebrating Caribbean history, heritage and culture in the city – for everyone to enjoy.

Our community allotment will be an urban museum plot – mapping the history and heritage of Caribbean life in Nottingham and the UK through beautiful Caribbean plants and tasty vegetables and herbs.

4. Support Missing and Murdered Aboriginal Women

First Nations/Indigenous/Metis/Inuit women suffer tremendous abuse, are one of the highest in regards to vulnerable sector. Indigenous women make up for 4.3 percent of Canada’s female population, 16 percent of female homicides, account for 11 percent of missing women, and 1,200 aboriginal women have been murdered or have vanished since 1980. According to RCMP data, at least 1,017 Indigenous women and girls were murdered from 1980-2012.

5. My Care

I want to introduce you all to a thought – simple idea born out of musing over the state of our society and our situation, and how we can improve our state as we delve deeper in the 21st century and leave something to look forward to for the coming generations.

How would you like to have funds available to you that won't cost you a penny? The funds I am talking about will be dedicated for the sole purpose of social welfare and the betterment of our society. These funds will come out of the total amount you pay as income taxes to the government. Imagine, a small amount of your taxes being available to you for making the world a better place. You can either donate the funds to any charity of your choice or even establish your own charitable organization to improve any aspect of your society, which you deem to be in need of development or relief.

My aim is to bring about a social change – a change that brings a paradigm shift in our outlook. It is quite apparent, from the present state that our society is in, that there is a crucial need to give care to our ever apathetic society.
This is an introductory attempt to start creating those necessary changes and with this I am introducing My Care to you! I want you to start reading the book with some idea as to what I wish to communicate to everyone and what you should expect. The book is available on Amazon and the link is on the website-

Petition Guide:

This campaign has always meant to be a global one and it is the wish of the author to ask the residents of each country who would like to support the My Care campaign in their own country to supply the addresses (in case of UK being; The House of Commons) of their own country and send it to my email.

The information provided will be used to create a petition similar to that of the UK. This way every participating country can have a petition connected to this link for voting.

The global petition is for the rest of residents living in countries where the implementation of My Care cannot take place at present, but want to show their support for the cause!

Please send your addressee information to:

6. Legalize Marijuana: Fight crime, not Cannabis

1. Prohibition has enormous social costs.
2. The benefits of criminalization are minuscule to nonexistent.
3. Prohibition is racist.
4. Cannabis has legitimate medical effects.
5. Legalization won’t lead to increased use.
6. Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco.

7. Make the release of Malaysian Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim from prison a top priority for Singapore's policy toward Malaysia

A good muslim is one that tells the truth and seperate the lies created by extremist muslim. Anwar is a good muslim that wrote this in his blog regarding the Charlie Hedbo attack that took lives of 12 people. Here's his words:

""""""Freedom of expression and double standards

Nevertheless, much as we must defend our fundamental liberties, the fact is that there is no such thing as absolute freedom of expression, not even in Europe and certainly not in France. When the comic book on the life of the Prophet was first published in France two years ago, I had deplored it as sacrilege against Islam. Indeed, I had called for calm and rationality in response even as we should denounce the cartoons as vile and contemptible.

To my mind, the Danish cartoons, Charlie Hebdo caricatures and the rest of the tasteless and insensitive publications ridiculing Islam and the Prophet are mere manifestations of Islamophobia in all its varied guises. They appear to betray a deep-seated Freudian prejudice or animosity harking back to the Crusades.

A clear line must therefore be drawn between freedom of expression and hate crimes.

So, while I condemn the Paris killings, I cannot subscribe to the chant of “je suis Charlie” because I do not support the portrayal of the image of the Prophet, let alone caricaturing him in any way. Likewise, I do not support blasphemy against Christians, Jews or any other religion. Neither do I support the freedom to incite hatred against anyone or community on account of religion, ethnicity or culture.

The publication of the Charlie Hepdo cartoons was highly offensive to many Muslims. The French government did nothing to hold to account the people responsible for that act of profanity. Now, in the aftermath of the Paris massacre, just a few days later the magazine republished the offensive cartoons and this was officially sanctioned by the French authorities. """"""

Now he was jailed in Malaysia because of Sodomy charges. Never did sodomy had sufficient evidence to jail him but due to the lack of integrity in Malaysia police and political power of UMNO (BN) government, he was jailed after fighting the rights of good muslim faith and humanity in the name of the Malaysia people.

8. Support a Moranbah fenced dog park facility

I would like to request a dog park facility in Moranbah.

Roughly 90% of Moranbah residents own a dog and I feel that it would be beneficial for the community to have a safe social place for like minded dog owners to take their four legged family member out without the restraint of a lead.

This petition will be sent to Isaac Regional Council.

9. Prevent Identity Theft on Facebook: Hide Real Names

We the people asking Facebook social media to protect our real names on their social media site ....keep real names PRIVATE and only accessible to Facebook and/or if a crime is involved accessible to government agency ...

Let us use NICKNAMES on the Facebook public timelines. KEEP real names PRIVATE to protect IDENTITY THEFT.

10. Deepak for Social

Last year a certain school hosted a school social where a particular member, Deepak Selvraj, offered to be DJ. He was accepted and did a wonderful job. The same social will be taking place again, however, the only difference is that Deepak is no longer invited because the president of the Social committee, Cameron Poultney, says he is "black".

I believe that this is against our human rights and in order to balance the awesomeness we need him, because he is awesome.

11. Stop a Care Crisis (Norfolk)

Norfolk County Council is planning further significant and potentially hugely damaging cuts to adult social care. For the first time the funding for personal budgets and care “packages” which provide care for vulnerable people is to be reduced and restrictions applied to the kind of care that people can ask for.

At the same time, funding for ‘preventative’ care services, which keep people well and independent, are being cut still further which can only add to costs in future years as peoples’ health is allowed to deteriorate.

The combination of shrinking budgets, an ageing population and increased demand for social care has caused many organisations to warn of a funding crisis. The Local Government Association, for instance, has calculated that many other Council services will have to be cut by 90% by 2020 if Councils are to be able to meet their social care commitments. Meanwhile, Norfolk County Council has assessed the long term care of older people as having the maximum possible level of risk.

It should be noted that Council Tax has been frozen for the last three years. While it is the case that this has made the Council eligible for some one-off grant funding from the central government, it has severely reduced available Council funding for future years.

Along with this, the present Labour/Lib-Dem administration at the Council has made infrastructure, which includes major road schemes, one of its three main priorities but has neglected to include any mention of social care in those priorities.

Thank you for taking the time to read this.

You can find specific details of each cut proposed by Norfolk County Council here. The cuts that this petition refers to are included under those numbered: 31, 33, 34, 35 and 37.

Once you've signed the petition, we would also encourage you to take part in the Norfolk County Council consultation on proposed cuts which you can find here.

Thanks again!

Please note, addresses are required for the petition to be accepted by Norfolk County Council. Neither these, nor the email addresses, will be publicly accessible online or used for any other purpose.

12. Abolish the death penalty in China

In China the death penalty is still being used to execute thousands and thousands of people yearly. It is estimated that China contribute to 60-80% of total death sentences and executions in the world.

Although these statistics are only estimated as the death penalty is a state secret and statistic are not produced, it is speculated that that this is because the actual death sentences may be very high than estimated and may cause embarrassment.

13. We want Robert Downey Jr on Instagram or Twitter! HELP US

We, his loyal Downeyators, wish for ROBERT DOWNEY JR. to join a form of social media, such as Twitter or Instagram, where he can share ideas, thoughts, photos, and progress about himself and or his career.

This is important to all of his fans. Often, stars join in sharing a little bit of themselves with their fans on such sites, and we would love nothing more than for him to drop a line of wisdom, humor, or wonderment for us when he can.

14. Stop BRITIAN declaring a war on Islam, blaming Islam for the latest Terror Attack

Reflect on the cause and effect of Nazism and lead others to be liberal and be social. I challenge the government of Britain and its future plans to develop peacefully, not through dependence of NATO and declaring war on Islam.

15. Increase the legal drinking age to 21!

For my social psychology assignment we've been told to start a petition to raise the legal drinking age to 21!

16. Italics and Bold for Facebook

Text has a way of inhibiting communication. While efficient and utilitarian, text just lacks emphasis. I would have italicized emphasis, um, for emphasis, but I can't do that. I also can't do that on Facebook.

17. Do not cut Social Welfare Advice Funding Levels in Tower Hamlets

We are shocked and concerned at the recommendations of the Tower Hamlets Third Sector Grants Programme Board to reduce the level of annual funding to the borough’s main advice service providers by 50 to 75%, at a time when this borough’s poorest and most disadvantaged residents are facing a welfare reform programme that will affect thousands of families and individuals.

The following agencies are all members of the Tower Hamlets Community Advice Network and all have a strong track record of delivering accessible, quality assured social welfare advice to the diverse communities across the borough:
Island Advice Centre, Chinese Association of Tower Hamlets, Legal Advice Centre, St Hilda’s East Community Centre, St Peter’s Community and Advice Centre, Tower Hamlets Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB), Praxis, OSCA Somali Advice Consortium, Limehouse Project, Bangladeshi Youth Movement Wapping Bangladeshi Association, Account 3, Bromley by Bow Centre, South Bromley Forum, Toynbee Hall and Tower Hamlets Law Centre.

The effect of these cuts will be drastic reductions in services borough-wide at a time of rising need, while some of the busiest and longest-standing advice agencies in the borough face closure.

The agencies listed above all currently receive funding from council mainstream grants to deliver co-ordinated social welfare advice provision across the borough that ensures residents have access to independent advice services 5 days a week.

19. Save Fulford

The former Penistone Grammar School buildings Fulford, Weirfield and the stables and the site they are situated on are been sold for possible residential development, which would lead to the demolition of these buildings.

These buildings are an integral part of Penistone's social history and must be retained for future generations. Other alternatives for use and conversion need to be fully exhausted before this can be allowed to happen.

20. Fairer discounts for right to acquire tenants

The Government has launched a “reinvigorated” Right to Buy scheme for public sector tenants that will provide £75,000 discounts to help social tenants into home ownership. This means that tenant will be given 35% discount and 1% for every year they have been a social housing tenant.

However, this does not include tenants who are under the right to aquire scheme, this scheme offers between £9000 and £16000 dependant on where they live. The government state there are currently no plans for a change in right to aquire discount policy.

So again why is one group of Tenants being treated differently from another group of Tenant. We all Public Sector Tenants.

22. Save our Threeways/Arundel Social Club Campaign

Hertsmere Borough Council wishes to close our Community Centre on 17/10/11. The building will be reopened Jan 2012 and managed by a leisure company.

They cannot guarantee the facilities currently provided by the current tenant will remain. Resulting in the closure of the Arundel Social Club and the current classes & groups which use the premises

23. Promote Social Cohesion in Schools

Social Cohesion helps bring people from different walks of like together.

Without it, there is anarchy and unrest and over the last 10 years there have been many violent rioting eg. Bradford Riots.

By showing there is Cohesion in school, we can tackle it in society.

24. A Living Wage for all Oxford University employees

A Living Wage is the minimum level of pay required to maintain a decent standard of living. Unlike the minimum wage, it takes into account many factors including the actual costs of housing, council tax, transport, food and childcare in that area.

The Living Wage is calculated by a formula from the National Income Standard, which is authorised by the Rowntree Trust.

Oxford City Council pays a Living Wage. The Greater London Authority promotes and pays a Living Wage. Universities, such as UCL and LSE, pay a Living Wage.

It is time Oxford University pays a Living Wage.

This petition demonstrates the wealth of student support for the Living Wage Campaign and will force the university and colleges to recognise that this is an important student and community issue.

How you can get involved:

1. You can come along to weekly meetings and get involved in helping to run the campaign. If you are interested in becoming a regular member please email:

2. You can be someone who we call on when we need to show the university that our campaign has support across the wider student community. This involves showing up to demonstrations and signing this petition! See ”What’s on in OUSU” in the OxStu for updates.

25. Campaign to save pubs, clubs and the entertainment businesses

The Social Life of Ordinary People: Licensed Premises.
(Inclusive of but not limited to Public Houses, Social, Workingmen’s, Political & Non Political, Sports & Social, Miners Welfares, Private Members, Community Social Clubs, etc).

Clubs and Pubs have, for many years, been the cornerstone of many communities in the UK, providing places for leisure, business, entertainment and formerly education of ordinary citizens of the United Kingdom. It provides many thousands of jobs, either directly or indirectly, at various levels and incomes.

Through a number of actions, either enacted by Parliament, or through the mis-interpretation of various Acts and Regulations, these venues are seriously threatened, with many closing and ceasing their various social activities.

It should not be forgotten that the club and pub “scene” has also served at least as “training grounds” for many of the Entertainment “Stars” that we rightly celebrate as great British talent, and continues to be. It is an industry sector that consists of many thousands of businesses and jobs, which not only has a very high value, but is also an extremely important source of revenue to the Exchequer.

We therefore petition Her Majesty’s Government to take swift action to support this entire industry and important source of leisure facilities and activities.

26. Axe the Ads at Facebook

Facebook has recently placed ads that appear on the top of your fb homepage. PLEASE REMOVE THESE ADS IMMEDIATELY.

Mr. Zuckerberg is a billionaire which makes these ads unnecessary and they are very annoying and cause your computer to lock up.

27. Stop Derbyshire County Council's Attacks On Social Care

Derbyshire County Council (DCC) has announced plans to drastically change social care provision for vulnerable residents, particularly elderly and disabled people.

The planned changes include closing two thirds of all care homes in the county, making all service users pay up to £200 a week for care which has always been free at the point of delivery, changing the criteria for qualifying for care so that only those subjectively judged to have substantial or critical needs may access services, making those with stairlifts pay a further £122 a year for a 'warranty' and to remove the automatic top-up grants necessary to enable anyone who needs major home alterations to access district council funds.

DCC announced these changes before Central Government's Comprehensive Spending Review and despite the Council's wealth, as it has in excess of £85 Million in resources. Taking these two facts together, it seems clear that DCC's attack on these vital services is motivated more by elitist ideology and a desire for privitisation by the back door than it could be by necessity. DCC claims that "no decisions have been made yet", but their 'consultation' appears not to have been very widely advertised and ends at 5 p.m. on 5th November 2010, comments can be made via the online form at

29. Human Rights & Mental Health / Capacity - Stop Abuses

I have worked in the general field of mental health for 35 years. As a therapeutic practitioner and as a manager (Psychosocial Therapies). During that time, I have successfully worked with people with serious mental ill health, learning disability, autism, brain damage and dementia.

I have been concerned about the prescriptive treatment of people with these kinds of problems and the tendency to make judgements against their wishes, without adequate sound evidence to support those decisions. Too many assumptions are made that impact upon personal freedom, dignity, informed choice and self-expression.

I have also witnessed many misdiagnoses and very unsound decisions, within Health & Social Care services and in the Law Courts and Child & Family Courts. The health, wellbeing and lives of my clients / families have been seriously affected these poor decisions. Many other cases have been reported to me.

Although I have met increasing numbers of skilful, person centred psychiatrists, therapists and social workers, there is still a tendency for the institutions to rely on outdate, erroneous assumptions about the cause, nature and resolution of these problems. Many practitioner are being constrained by ‘local’ policies & decisions.

My concern is that there are many contraventions of people’s Human Rights every day, on the most spurious interpretation of the use of special powers. It has become evident that the decisions are biased towards social control, rather the therapy. Local Institutions are very risk averse, protecting their position rather than client’s interests.

Most cases I have worked with, where there is psychosis, agitated behaviour and ‘behaviour problems’, there has been clear evidence of childhood & adolescent trauma and abuse. This may be at home, in social care and education institutions. Adults are also distressed in this way by ‘domestic / relationship abuses’.

This can be anything from physical, psychological, emotional and sexual abuse, through ‘culture shock’, to bullying in home, school or work. Although I have been able to demonstrate this in individual cases, aided recovery and have successfully challenged most misdiagnoses, it has been difficult to get general attitudes changed.

I am campaigning for a thorough World Health Organisation review of Psychiatric thinking, theoretical foundations and health and social care practices. The evidence of organic causes are very rare and yet psychiatry largely works of the assumption of ‘mental incompetence’, due to genetic, or organic failings.

The social and clinical treatment have as many negative effects as they have benefits as they do benefits, especially when used indefinitely and on the basis of misdiagnosis and false assumptions.

The influence of psychiatry and forensic psychology, within the Law Courts is very dubious. The ‘expert witnesses’ are often the worst examples of clinical psychiatric practice and the Law is far too reliant upon their unsound assumptions and judgments. There is a very unethical aspect to psychiatric ‘expert witnesses’;

“Who is the patient and what are their rights here?”
