3. Give Them Water!

On Macedonia Hill in Lawrence County, Ohio, 45 families (The Macedonia 45) scratch out a living by hauling water into their homes every week in order to survive.

Keith & Lizabeth Brammer, along with their two teenage children, face great difficulties since Keith is a paraplegic. The water table, now historically low, prevents the drilling of wells. For over 1000 days people have made empty promises.

The Macedonia 45 have no clean, fresh running water. Only a mile away, Walmart and Lowe's use gallons of water every hour! Let's join together! Give them Water!

4. The F.Y.R.O.M. is not Macedonia; U.S. restore the truth!

Dear President Obama:

In advance of your historic trip to Greece, we are writing regarding U.S. policy on the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (the FYROM).

Your Greek-American constituents are deeply appreciative of your long record of support on this issue. We recall that as Senator you were an original lead co-sponsors of Senate Resolution 300 in 2007, which urged that the FYROM work with Greece to reach a mutually-acceptable official name for that country. We also appreciate that as President, you have refused to support NATO membership for the FYROM since it has failed to reach a mutually-acceptable solution with Greece.

We agree with your support of the UN-led negotiations and your belief that there can and should be an agreement between Skopje and Athens that leads to greater stability in the Balkans. Present U.S. policy on this issue, however, is unintentionally promoting instability in the Balkans.

In 2004, the Bush Administration rewarded Skopje’s support for the Iraq War by recognizing the country as “Macedonia” despite the ongoing UN-led negotiations. State Department officials at the time argued that the policy would lead to stability in the Balkans and make a solution with Greece more likely.

The exact opposite has occurred. Encouraged by what it has interpreted as unqualified U.S. support, Skopje has become more intransigent in its negotiations with Greece and more provocative in making claims on Greek history. Skopje has also made the refugee crisis in the region worse by closing its border with Greece. Finally, Skopje is mired in political and corruption scandals that risk further instability.

Greece is a frontline state for the Western alliance, and your visit underscores this strategic significance. Continuing the Bush Administration’s ill-conceived and improperly motivated decision to recognize the FYROM as “Macedonia” increases the risk of political instability in Greece at a time when Greece needs political consensus to confront economic and refugee crises.

Earlier this year, the Greek-American community launched a petition supported by Hellenes worldwide requesting that you reverse the recognition of a “Macedonia”. The tens of thousands of signatures on this petition and recent polling in Greece both demonstrate that this issue remains an important one for the Greek electorate and for the Greek diaspora worldwide.

Your visit can indeed promote stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. Therefore, we request that you order a review of the present policy on the FYROM by your State Department, with specific emphasis given on whether the continued recognition of a “Macedonia” promotes stability in the region and makes a solution with Greece more likely.

Να φτιάξουμε κι εμείς μια δημοσκόπηση για το αν είναι Αμερικάνικο το TEXAS ;

8. Support a real Solution for Greece Macedonia dispute re the name issue

Background of Greece-Macedonian dispute on the name issue

The Macedonia naming dispute refers to the disagreement over the use of the name Macedonia between Greece and the Republic of Macedonia. Greece opposes on 1991's constitutional name, after Macedonia declare a full independence from SFRY, though the name Macedonia was in official use as a constitutional name of the state since 02 August 1944. Background of existence of Modern Macedonian state and the name

Macedonia was a single geographic entity until the Balkan Wars of 1912-13. As a result of the Treaty of Bucharest, Macedonia was partitioned among Serbia, Greece, and Bulgaria. These regions are known as the Republic of Macedonia (organised state since 1944 and independent since 1991), Aegean Macedonia (occupied by Greece since 1913), Pirin of macedonia (occupied by Bulgaria since 1913). Declaration (Manifesto) of ASNOM - 02 August 1944

ASNOM became and remained the biggest event of Macedonian struggle for national freedom and sovereignty. The most important decision at the First Session of ASNOM was the decision to proclaim ASNOM the supreme legislative and executive body representing the Macedonian people, and the pinnacle of state authority in Macedonia. It incorporated initial guidelines on constituting the Macedonian state, creating the "constitutional, legal document, upon the basis of which the Macedonian federal state is to be established and built." The decision also provided for constituting the people's administration,” the government of the Macedonian state, the functions of which were, for the time being, to be performed by the Presidium of ASNOM". Furthermore, in structuring executive authority, this document provided for the formation of "a required number of departments for the various branches of state administration" which were to perform the function of ministries until a government was established. This initial constitution for Macedonia was further supplemented by ASNOM with a definition of essential and guaranteed civil rights. The Declaration on Citizens' Rights stated that all citizens of Macedonia "are equal before the law, irrespective of their nationality, sex, race and religion." The Declaration also guaranteed the rights of ethnic minorities "to a free national life." The minorities are further mentioned in the ASNOM Manifesto, wherein the freedom and equality of all nationalities in Macedonia is proclaimed." (source: Mi-Am publishing)

The first constitution of People Republic of Macedonia 31/12/1946

The first constitutional period of Macedonia in a formal sense began with the introduction of the Constitution of Popular Republic of Macedonia on the 31st December 1946. The first constitution of Macedonia was passed and proclaimed by the Constitutional Assembly of the Popular Republic of Macedonia, which, after having passed the Constitution, continued its work as a regular assembly. Apart from its constitutional and legal significance as the highest act of the country, this constitution also had a particular political importance, because it was a document through which the Macedonian state was constitutionally established, and therefore, generally recognized. The constitution of 1946 first set out the character of the state and the way in which it was to be administered. The People's Republic of Macedonia was established as a people's state in a republican form, in which the Macedonian people, expressing their free will, joined together with the other nations of Yugoslavia and their people's republics on the principle of equality to form a common federal state - the FPRY. This definition of the republic exclusively expressed its state legal element, which was necessary and justified during that period, in order to express its constituting as a state. In this definition, there are also elements of the principle of self-determination of the people, expressed in a voluntarily and freely expressed will to join together with the other nations of Yugoslavia. 9. STOP work restrictions against Romanian and Bulgarian nationals

Do not leave Europe's eastern freedom shield behind! Again!

10. "Republic" is Enough

Citizens of The Republic of Macedonia (constitutional name of our country!) are no longer willing to be exposed on further political pressure connected to the UN established "name issue" negotiation process between Republic of Greece and Republic of Macedonia.

So far, it is well known that there is a region with the same name in Greece, and that Macedonia with a reference REPUBLIC is a separate state.

During the years of so far "endless negotiations" our national identity was denied, our language (which is Macedonian!) was called Slavo-macedonian (even in the EP or EU documents!).

Now we are faced with other "creative politician's suggestions" on WHAT ELSE TO ADD to the official name of our country in order not to be offensive to Greece.

So, WE simply WANT to send a very SIMPLE message to all politicians involved in negotiations of both countries, UN special envoy Mr. Mathiew Niemetz, EU, EP, CoE, OSCE and to all other Inernational Community representatives that REPUBLIC IS ENOUGH!

11. Macedonia is our name

We are Macedonias and we will stay with that name. It mustn't be changed!! Macedonia.

The history of the Hellenic people stretches back many thousands of years, part of this long tapestry of history is the story of Macedonia, and its many heroes. The name Macedonia is and has always remained representative of Greece's northern provinces.

Others have been so mesmerised by this history that they have attempted to appropriate it for themselves, one such example being the people of FYROM, which was known as Vardaska before 1944.

This petition calls upon Governments to recognise Greece's unique connection to Macedonia, its history and its symbols, and not to allow this to be taken away from it by a northern artificially created state which was a product of political conditionining in Tito's Yugoslavia.

16. Name Solutions for F.Y.R.O.M. (former Yugoslav Republic - with Cap. Skopje)

Herein a short list of historic facts in support of a distinct official name, other than that of the region of Macedonia of Northern Greece, that will replace the UN official term F.Y.R.O.M. / the former Yugoslav republic with capital the city of Skopje.

· FYROM is a state with a fabricated conscious / identity crafted during the Cold War Era by Joseph Marshal Tito to prevent the unification of the region known as FYROM with Bulgaria (same ethno- linguistic makeup) - at the same time annex Historic Macedonia of Northern Greece.

·The citizens of FYROM, for the most part, are ethnic Slavs (last names end in –ski ) and ethnic Albanians.

· According to the official state census during the Ottoman Era, the primary ethnic groups in the geographic region of Macedonia were: Greek, Bulgarian, and Turkish. History does not record the existence of an identifiable Macedonian ethnic group.

· The region of Macedonia in Northern Greece is over 90% of Historic Macedonia, which is in fact the region that all the major archeological findings have been found. Thus, the region of FYROM is a fringe geographic region to the core Macedonian mainland.

· The region of FYROM covers what was at the time of antiquity part of Paeonia and part of Dardania and was located north of Macedonia.

17. Equal criteria for the terrorists all over the world!!

Terrorists are the same all over the world regardless whether they operate in a powerfull country as USA or a small country as Macedonia!!! All they want is to destroy civilized societies!
So why does the world have such a changible opinion about the terrorists in Macedonia?

Terrorists are terrorists not fighters for rights, while innocents victims are innocent all over the world!! Let us stop terrorism on Balkan & USA soil and let all the terrorists receive the same treatment!!!

18. No ceasefire in Macedonia

This petition is about the Macedonian ceasfire beween the rebels. Macedonia shouldn't have agreed to sign the ceasefire. It has wasted 300 million dollars and now they agreed to a ceasefire. They should have kept going until they could have. If you ask the people who died for the Former Yuougoslav rep. of Macedonia they sould have fought to the end now that it looks like the Albanians have won. The USA should bombard Albania.

19. Letter of disappointment to EU and UN

Dear Excellencies,

I am writing you in response to your criticism over the Government of Macedonia's latest action against the Albanian terrorists (i.e. as you refer to them as "armed rebels and extremists"). Your "disappointment" on how the latest crisis around Aracinovo was handled, had particularly provoked me to express MY bitterness and deep disappointment regarding the following:

1. I am very disappointed to hear that your excellencies have been disturbedby the fact that the Government of Macedonia had to take decisive action against armed groups who threaten the people of Macedonia and use weapons as a tool to legitimize themselves and their actions (often later acting as "the victims themselves"); furthermore, I am equally disappointed by the actions of the Swedish security forces (Sweden is currently presiding
with the EU) against peace protesters in Gothenburg during the EU Summit in mid-June.

2. I am very disappointed that your Excellencies have not taken into consideration the fact that all parties involved in the process of reconstructing Kosovo have failed to restore a lasting peace, law and order in the neighboring Yugoslav province of Kosovo, which permanently produces negative consequences for the peace and stability of the whole region(including the Republic of Macedonia).

3. Furthermore, I am very disappointed and disturbed to see lack of willingness by your respective governments to build multiethnic Kosovo, as previously pledged.

4. Many Macedonian citizens (despite of their ethnic or religious affiliation) are stunned by the fact that international humanitarian
organizations are vigorous only when it comes to helping unfortunate ethnic Albanians and neglecting the others in need.

5. I am alarmed to find out that you have FINALLY been disturbed by the crisis in Macedonia and kindly ask you to go back in time and figure out when was the exact and right time for you to be really upset!

6. I am disappointed to realize that you think it is the Macedonian
Constitution that generates the current crisis. I would kindly refer you to the Constitution of the neighboring Republic of Albania and ask you to read all of it (including its Preamble).

7. I am very disappointed that all of you failed to employ due diligence as you have done so during the peak of the current crisis and "discover" that there is no "Slav" majority - rather ethnic Macedonians and that there is no one third ethnic Albanian population in Macedonia - rather 22,9% according to the 1994 census, conducted (believe it or not) by The Council of Europe itself and its ICOM (International Census Observation Mission) in Macedonia led by Mr. Robert McMurray of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Certain Media based in your respective countries are still insulting a greater majority of the population by naming them "Slavs" which does not correspond to their true ethnic affiliation. We have never heard an affirmative comment from them talking about "citizens of Macedonia" if nothing else.

8. I am very disappointed that my country's name is still FYROM, thanks to your "proved" interest in defending and promoting fundamental human rights and freedoms (among those let me remind you about the freedom of expression and self-determination). In addition, I am insulted by the fact that the EU mission in Skopje represented by Mr. Teixeira is named the "Delegation of the European Commission to the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, FYROM, Skopje"!

9. Let me remind you that you still have an ongoing obligation and a pledge to protect Macedonia and its borders particularly the volatile one with Kosovo), made in the eve of the NATO intervention against Yugoslavia. Kosovo's well being cannot be constructed on behalf of the misery of its neighbors, just for the sake of "showing its success story" which so far exists not.

10. I am very disappointed that some of your envoys are beginning to "shoulder" and chit chat with those who undeniably want the partition of my country. If that indeed is your last word on Macedonia also, then let us not waste more time and lives and let the demarcation begin immediately, rather than pressure for continuation of a political dialogue containing ridiculous
bargaining over rights and powers which involves parties who per se have no legitimate right to negotiate on such issues exclusively. If you all truly want the stability and the peace in this region your missionaries would at the moment be assisting the government rather than act as a "taxi-service" to all those who came in uninvited, to kill, threaten, block water supplies and force civilians to leave their homes and properties just because they do not fit into their xenophobic scenario and "cause".

11. Dear Excellencies, it is true Macedonia has little money to buy weapons and rockets, but when it comes to defending our values and freedom such money is well spent to our minds. Loyal citizens do not fear legitimate security forces. Criminals do!

12. Let me in the end express my hope that you will reconsider your position toward Macedonia and its certainly "imperfect" Government and convey a clear message of support to those of us who act and work toward further democratization and the European prospective of Macedonia. All those inspired by the "freedom fighters" clearly demonstrated fear and disbelieve in the European integration itself. I guess your Excellencies this is the last chance for you to decide are you going to give a credit to those who would rather stand on the demarcation line, than to those committed to pursue the way of the integration toward Europe, without alternatives and preconditions and no matter how hard and challenging it is.
