1. End the US Electoral College - Use Popular Vote to Elect our President

The Electoral College was created when our country was just forming. It was created and added as the 12th Amendment to our US Constitution mainly because to use a popular vote wasn't very practical. The nation's land area was vast, the population was small, and very spread out. The former democratic models, such as Rome and Greece, would divide the land-owning men into groups, and each group of 100 got to represent 1 vote. This is the basis for the Electoral College we still use today. To read a full hisotrical perspecive, go to:

We now live in a world where almost everyone has access to learn a great deal about the candidates we elect. That was not the case in the 1700's, 1800's, and maybe even as short of a time ago as 100 years. Since we now have television, internet, 24 hour news in many formats, etc, as well as very reliable transportation, safe roads, and a much larger and better educated population than we did even 100 years ago, I am starting a petition to ask our Senators, Representatives, and state Governors/Governments to trust the vote of the people, the popular vote, and modify the 12th article of the US Constitution to allow the popular vote winner to become the President of the United States, and abolish the Electoral College System.

2. Save Our Helipad - Coomba Park

A proposal as been put forward to demolish the Coomba Park Emergency Helipad on the NSW Mid Coast and to construct a Chapel in its place.

The Helipad, while only used several times a year by the Emergency services, is a critical piece of life and property saving community infrastructure, essential to the residents and visitors on and around the south and western shores and hinterland of Wallis Lake.

The Helipad provides a crucial landing area for Medical Helicopters in our remote region and its removal could see seriously ill or injured patients having to travel up to one and a half hours in an Ambulance rather than a 20 minute flight while being monitored by a Doctor.

The Helipad is also used by Rescue and Fire Fighting helicopters in times when bush fires in our rural setting threaten the property and lives of not just those who visit and live here, but also those on the ground who are trying to protect us.

3. RNC Loyalty Pledge 2016. - Those Who Breached their Oath

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus has said “it’s high time for Donald Trump’s former primary challengers to come on board and support his campaign.”

As private citizens and members of the Republican Party we agree with Mr. Priebus. We will not support individuals who will not honor his or her honor bound pledge. This is a disgrace.

Please sign the petition and share this with your friends on social media. Let’s get the word out.

RNC Loyalty Pledge

The pledge reads: “I, ________, affirm that if I do not win the 2016 Republican nomination for President of the United States I will endorse the 2016 Republican presidential nominee regardless of who it is.”

“I further pledge that I will not seek to run as an independent or write-in candidate nor will I seek or accept the nomination for president of any other party.”

Will NOT honor the RNC Pledge:
Gov. George Pataki No
Gov. Jeb Bush No
Gov. John Kasich No
Sen. Lindsey Graham No

4. Save Gannons Dog Park Peakhurst

On Monday 5th September, council began works on the Gannons Park Shared Pedestrian & Cycling Path. This new development has apparently had extensive residential discussion about this topic, however, myself and MANY other residents who live within a 5 minute walk (including someone who has live across the road from the dog park for 20 years) have never been consulted or warned. I have lived here for approximately 5 years and have never had any information about this.

There is an extremely large amount of people who love using this off leash dog park, it is one of a kind! There is no where in Sydney like it. There is enough space that even dogs who are a little anxious can enjoy some off lead exercise without having other people and dogs (and cyclists) intruding their space.

People come from all over to enjoy this space with mans best friend. It is beautiful, spacious and safe. No where in Sydney can we enjoy such a large open space, without concerns of traffic nearby, without fences that force us to be too close to every other dog in the area!

Not to mention Hurstville All Breeds Dog Training. This is a fantastic volunteer run organisation who help 100's of people learn how to train their dogs every Saturday afternoon. Imagine how this will turn out with people speeding around a cycling track! They have been there for years helping the community learn how to train and handle their pets - and they weren't even made aware of this development until works were already underway!

People who try to do the right thing and train their dogs will have an awfully hard time doing so if there are cyclists speeding around. On any given Saturday there can be up to 50 people training down there.

Most afternoons there are so many people and their best mates enjoying this space. This will be destroyed.

No matter how well trained our canine friends are, a bicycle speeding past can set them off. They may be scared (i know my beautiful boy is scared of bikes, this is why we hang out down there as there are none), they may be excited and chase them - dogs chase things!

We dont let them off lead in upper Gannons for 2 reasons:
1 - It is not allowed
2 - sports with people running, balls flying and people riding bikes are a huge distraction and encourage dogs to chase!

Perhaps creating a cycling track in Evatt Park in Lugarno would be more appropriate? It is not an off leash area, therefore would not be affecting the small amount of freedom our dogs get.

The idea of putting in a bike track in an off leash dog park is clearly a bad idea. What is going to happen when a cyclist comes speeding through the park and a dog becomes over excited and chases it, or a small child riding their bike down there scares a dog and it chases them. Small children on bikes and scooters are generally a scary situation for dogs!

Please stop the works, please don't take away the best thing Peakhurst has! Please dont take away our only safe space to play off leash with our dogs!

Save our Dog Park!

5. The F.Y.R.O.M. is not Macedonia; U.S. restore the truth!

Dear President Obama:

In advance of your historic trip to Greece, we are writing regarding U.S. policy on the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (the FYROM).

Your Greek-American constituents are deeply appreciative of your long record of support on this issue. We recall that as Senator you were an original lead co-sponsors of Senate Resolution 300 in 2007, which urged that the FYROM work with Greece to reach a mutually-acceptable official name for that country. We also appreciate that as President, you have refused to support NATO membership for the FYROM since it has failed to reach a mutually-acceptable solution with Greece.

We agree with your support of the UN-led negotiations and your belief that there can and should be an agreement between Skopje and Athens that leads to greater stability in the Balkans. Present U.S. policy on this issue, however, is unintentionally promoting instability in the Balkans.

In 2004, the Bush Administration rewarded Skopje’s support for the Iraq War by recognizing the country as “Macedonia” despite the ongoing UN-led negotiations. State Department officials at the time argued that the policy would lead to stability in the Balkans and make a solution with Greece more likely.

The exact opposite has occurred. Encouraged by what it has interpreted as unqualified U.S. support, Skopje has become more intransigent in its negotiations with Greece and more provocative in making claims on Greek history. Skopje has also made the refugee crisis in the region worse by closing its border with Greece. Finally, Skopje is mired in political and corruption scandals that risk further instability.

Greece is a frontline state for the Western alliance, and your visit underscores this strategic significance. Continuing the Bush Administration’s ill-conceived and improperly motivated decision to recognize the FYROM as “Macedonia” increases the risk of political instability in Greece at a time when Greece needs political consensus to confront economic and refugee crises.

Earlier this year, the Greek-American community launched a petition supported by Hellenes worldwide requesting that you reverse the recognition of a “Macedonia”. The tens of thousands of signatures on this petition and recent polling in Greece both demonstrate that this issue remains an important one for the Greek electorate and for the Greek diaspora worldwide.

Your visit can indeed promote stability in the Eastern Mediterranean and the Balkans. Therefore, we request that you order a review of the present policy on the FYROM by your State Department, with specific emphasis given on whether the continued recognition of a “Macedonia” promotes stability in the region and makes a solution with Greece more likely.

6. Terri Irwin please allow the Chambers brothers access to Wildlife Hospital

As reported in various media outlets in the past few weeks, Terri Irwin of Australia Zoo, has had a ban placed on Ray and Murray Chambers of Sunshine Coast Koala Rescue, from setting foot on Australia Zoo property. The boys work tirelessly rescuing sick and injured koalas from almost anywhere in South East Queensland without pay.

Due to reasons that have been published in the press already and I do not want to go into here, they are no longer welcome at the wildlife hospital despite volunteering for many years there and providing labour and equipment to assist in building enclosures and of course their valuable time.

This ban is delaying koalas at the driveway to await someone else to deliver them the 500 metres to the hospital triage area. When a koala has been hit by a car the pain that animal is in should warrant putting aside all personal clashes and getting it in hospital straight away.

These boys have done nothing to warrant this treatment and are being made out to be criminals when there by being watched by security and treated like nothing. This should be about saving koalas and this ban is being detrimental to any conservation propaganda coming from the zoo.

Please sign and share for the sake of our koalas welfare.

7. Say No to changes to Rules of Engagement in Afghanistan

The new U.S.-Afghanistan security agreement adds restrictions on already bureaucratic rules of engagement for American troops by making Afghan dwellings virtual safe havens for the enemy, combat veterans say.

The rules of engagement place the burden on U.S. air and ground troops to confirm with certainty that a Taliban fighter is armed before they can fire — even if they are 100 percent sure the target is the enemy.

In some cases, aerial gunships have been denied permission to fire even though they reported that targets on the move were armed.

8. Demand SOLS Be Removed

We petition the government to work with the Department of Education to remove the SOlS. The State and Federal governments should be the one's in charge of students education. It would also help the economy because then you wouldn't need a "Department of Education".

Under the "No child left behind" Act students have been pressured to only pass SOLS, have had courses on how to pass them and even students scores affect how much (if any) of a pay increase teachers get.

We Demand that SOLS be removed and speak for the overwhelming majority of Americans that want to get rid of SOLS.

9. Stop Marmong Point development and Save our Birds and Bushland

Petition to stop the proposed development of the retirement village and road and save our birds and bushland.

Due to the wide, rare, and diverse variety of bird and other native animal life that depend on the pond and surrounding bushland for food and shelter in the proposed area of development for the retirement village and road in Marmong Point, development application number : DA/2233/2010, also due to the impact on the environment of this fragile eco-system and the reduction of the nature corridor and habitat by the removal of trees, we are strongly opposed to this development.

10. Preservation of Bushland at Edith Cowan University

Edith Cowan University management have no plans to maintain the majority of bushland areas on the university grounds. It is likely that these areas will be flattened for future development.

Why is this important?
- ECU campuses are known for their iconic Australian bushland surroundings.
- There are currently no intentions to preserve extensive areas of existing bushland at ECU Joondalup campus.
- Urbanisation is a major contributing factor toward climate change, clearing native bushland areas will promote an environmentally irresponsible image for ECU in this respect.
- The bushland areas support a range of native wildlife.
- The surrounding bushland at ECU provide a positive and relaxing learning environment for students.
- These areas are valued by the community outside of ECU.

Ensure the continued existence of bushland areas at all Edith Cowan University campuses by signing the online petition for protected Edith Cowan University bushland areas.

11. Save A Tree

The issue is that we are losing trees at a very fast pace. Without trees we can expect more runoffs of topsoil, the temperature of the earth to change, extinction of animals that rely on tree’s to live, and irregularities in the balance of carbon dioxide and oxygen.

Some might think that this won't affect us, but it can/will create a reaction on the earth that will affect other resources in the area. By saving the trees we are creating a better future for ourselves and our future children.

12. Allow Cristinella to attend The Church of Rock at Charlie Murdoch's

CRISTINELLA has been "banned" from attending The Church of Rock at Charlie Murdoch's Dueling Piano Bar on 3 occasions. The reasons for being "banned" have not fully been explained, and are irrational, considering that CRISTINELLA has positively promoted CHARLIE MURDOCH'S DUELING PIANO BAR for the past year.

JOEY GRANATI once revealed to CRISTINELLA that he planned on using the younger generation to generate publicity for himself as an entertainer. CRISTINELLA admires and reveres JOEY GRANATI, yet is cruelly punished for being CRISTINELLA.

As a professional entertainer, it is CRISTINELLA's right to seek solace in the live music. "BANNING" must stop. Music heals. Allow CRISTINELLA to heal through music at her favorite live music venue in Pittsburgh, PA.

13. Don't put 20,000 Bolivians out of work!

Petition to the Bush Administration, Congress, and Incoming U.S. President

Nearly two decades ago, under President Bush's father, the U.S. began the Andean Trade Preference Act (ATPDEA). That program offers Bolivia and a handful of other Latin American nations reduced U.S. tariffs, allowing them to develop new industries and jobs exporting products such as textiles, jewelry, and hand-carved furniture.

In September, as part of the Bush administration's feud with Bolivian President Evo Morales, President Bush announced that he will use his executive authority to axe Bolivia out of those trade preferences.

The actual victims of President Bush’s move, however, won't be President Morales, but women and men who eke out modest livings as weavers, jewelry-makers and carpenters, creating products for U.S. markets. The U.S. Congress knows that, and just two weeks ago approved a six-month extension for Bolivia. But as recently as October 16 in Washington, President Bush repeated his intent to sidestep Congress and use his powers to cut Bolivian workers out of the program.

The Democracy Center, based in Cochabamba, Bolivia, has begun this petition to give people an opportunity to speak out against President Bush's plan. On October 31 we will present the petition, including the names of all who sign it, as part of our formal comments to the Bush administration, as allowed under U.S. law.

The Democracy Center has also produced a five-minute video featuring the testimonies of three Bolivian workers who will be directly impacted by Bush's action. That video can be viewed here:

*By signing this pledge, your email will not be shared with anyone.

**If your organization wants to join the petition please send us an email telling us so at:

14. George Bush should be revoked as president

President Bush has done very little to help this counrty. He is doing nothing about the climbing gas prices, the mortgage crisis, or the real issues.

I for one think Bush should be fired for his sloppy work.

15. Name Solutions for F.Y.R.O.M. (former Yugoslav Republic - with Cap. Skopje)

Herein a short list of historic facts in support of a distinct official name, other than that of the region of Macedonia of Northern Greece, that will replace the UN official term F.Y.R.O.M. / the former Yugoslav republic with capital the city of Skopje.

· FYROM is a state with a fabricated conscious / identity crafted during the Cold War Era by Joseph Marshal Tito to prevent the unification of the region known as FYROM with Bulgaria (same ethno- linguistic makeup) - at the same time annex Historic Macedonia of Northern Greece.

·The citizens of FYROM, for the most part, are ethnic Slavs (last names end in –ski ) and ethnic Albanians.

· According to the official state census during the Ottoman Era, the primary ethnic groups in the geographic region of Macedonia were: Greek, Bulgarian, and Turkish. History does not record the existence of an identifiable Macedonian ethnic group.

· The region of Macedonia in Northern Greece is over 90% of Historic Macedonia, which is in fact the region that all the major archeological findings have been found. Thus, the region of FYROM is a fringe geographic region to the core Macedonian mainland.

· The region of FYROM covers what was at the time of antiquity part of Paeonia and part of Dardania and was located north of Macedonia.

16. Save Darfur

In 2004 the U.S. Government called the atrocities in Darfur genocide...

...3 years later the killing continues.

-More than 450,000 innocent civilians are Dead

-2.5-3 Million are Displaced

-3.5 million depend on food aid

Women are being raped,
and Villages are being bombarded.

It is part of our responsibility as human beings to help these people and end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, & eastern Chad.

17. Climate Emergency First Priority!

The Earth is already locked in to a 1.8 degrees global rise in temperature above pre-industrial times. Above a two degree rise, we are guaranteed far more calamitous weather events already evidenced by fires, flooding, wind, melting, Tsunamis, hurricanes, earthquakes and tornadoes.

These events are resulting in widespread damage and the death of many people as well as entire species.

Please sign to request that United States leaders take immediate and sustained action on this drastic climate emergency!

18. Stop The War In Iraq

The War in Iraq has been going strong for 5 years now, As of September 2007 over 27,506 Military Men and Women have been Injured in Iraq and Over 3728 have Died on the Battlefield...and Counting.

There are thousands of National Guardsmen and Women in Iraq who are trained to deal with fires much like the ones in California.

We need too get out of Iraq and deal with more important issues:

-California Fires

-The Darfur Conflict

Nobody else should die in that desert.

19. Support American Military Service Members and Troops

George Bush lied to the people of the United States when he said Iraq had WMD's.

He lied when he claimed Saddam Hussain had a part with Osam Bin Laden. Our troops are being murdered in Iraq by militant Muslims who will never stop their attacks on our Military heroes.

It is time to protect our Service Members from the fascist fanaticism of George W. Bush.

21. Pass That Law!

Bush has vowed he will veto the law that makes horse slaughter illegal, we need to stop this!

As a man who willingly endorsed policies that lead to the deaths of hundreds of thousands of innocent Iraqi children and against the wishes of the bishop of Rome, waged an unholy, unjust and illegal war on a sovereign state, it would be completely unacceptable for him to be enrolled as a full member of the catholic church.

This is compounded by his public refusal to accept the error of his actions and his share of the responsibility for the carnage and slaughter, as a nation is torn apart.

23. Universal law for CO2 emissions / Ley Universal para reducir la emisiones de CO2 a la Atmósfera!!

Global warming is a problem that concerns everyone, but some governments (like USA, the most contaminating one) seem to do nothing about it. Their time is over. It's time for us, people of the world to declare what we want our governments to do for us, for this planet, for you and me.

24. Send Aid to Darfur!

The Darfur conflict is an ongoing armed conflict in the Darfur region of western Sudan, mainly between the Janjaweed, a militia group recruited from the tribes of the Abbala Rizeigat (Bedouin Arabs), and the non-Baggara people (mostly land-tilling tribes) of the region.

The Sudanese government, while publicly denying that it supports the Janjaweed, has provided money and assistance and has participated in joint attacks with the group, systematically targeting the Fur, Zaghawa, and Massaleit ethnic groups in Darfur. The conflict began in July 2003. Unlike in the Second Sudanese Civil War, which was fought between the primarily Muslim north and Christian and Animist south, in Darfur most of the residents are Muslim, as are the Janjaweed.

After fighting worsened in July and August 2006, on August 31, 2006, the United Nations Security Council approved Resolution 1706 which called for a new 17,300-troop UN peacekeeping force to supplant or supplement a poorly funded, ill-equipped 7,000-troop African Union Mission in Sudan peacekeeping force. Sudan strongly objected to the resolution and said that it would see the UN forces in the region as foreign invaders. The next day, the Sudanese military launched a major offensive in the region. (See New proposed UN peacekeeping force)

Estimated number of deaths in the conflict vary widely. According to Sudan's government, 9,000 people have been killed; most NGOs use 200,000 to over 400,000, a figure from the Coalition for International Justice that has since been cited by the United Nations. As many as 2.5 million are thought to have been displaced as of October 2006.[3] (See Counting deaths section, below) The mass media once described the conflict as both "ethnic cleansing" and "genocide," and now do so without hesitation. The some in the United States government has described it as genocide, although the United Nations has declined to do so.

In March 2007 the U.N. mission accused Sudan's government of orchestrating and taking part in "gross violations" in Darfur and called for urgent international action to protect civilians there. Not much action has taken place.

25. Stop the President from sending more troops to Iraq

On the night of January 10, 2007 the President of the United States addressed to the Nation his new plan to send over 20,000 more troops to Iraq.

An AP-Ipsos poll was taken after the President's address to the Nation and it was shown that 71% opposed sending over more troops to Iraq.

We need to let our voices be heard. Signing this petition will help further the notion that the people are not in agreement to what is being done.

26. Business or real idea of democracy ?

Just to know your opinion about the real reasons of the Iraqi war ...

27. Cubans Can Go To Cuba

Myself and many of my peers, family, and people I dont know are upset that cubans can't go to Cuba unless we have immediate family now living in Cuba.

So if we want to see a grandmother, aunt, uncle, neice, or anyone like that we can't because of this restriction.

This is also not fair to americans who want to enjoy the beautiful country of Cuba.

28. Bring back conjugal visits for all states

Today, conjugal visitation programs, also known as the Extended Family Visit, only survive in six states: California, Connecticut, Mississippi, New Mexico, New York and Washington.

Make them available in every state.

29. Bush Impeachment - Los Angeles

June 17, 2006

Help us make history and place Los Angeles on the list of cities supporting the impeachment of resident George W. Bush.

30. Provide counseling and rehab centers for cult victims

June 1, 2006

There are over seven million americans who are involved in cults, or cult-like groups.

There is hardley any money used to help cult victims, or research cult tactics, which would prevent people from joining a cult. If this petition goes through, money will be used to research cults, and educate the public about them, so that they are more informed.

The goal is to help cult victims, and prevent people from becoming one.
