1. Ban Unhealthily Underweight Models

1.6 million people in the UK are affected by an eating disorder. 'Dream Models' agency recently did a study on a sample of 3,000 models, showing that 94% of them were under an unhealthy body mass index of 18.5. Models set expectations for young people, as the media is such a major aspect of 21st century life. France have introduced a policy stating that models must only be considered after providing evidence of a doctor's certificate that shows that they are at a healthy weight. A secondary element to the new policy is that re-touched photos in magazines must be marked as such. Using this, in the UK, would be both positive for body image and therefore reduces eating disorder cases, reducing the cost to the NHS of eating disorder inpatient admissions and improving health of a large proportion of the UK's population.

2. Stop the Media lies

The media should have to investigate and prove comments and stories. Not just throw an accusation out and run with it for months. If there is no proof do not say it.!!! Stop trying to brainwash America. Let them know the truth so they can make real decisions. Not decisions based on lies Show some pride in who we are supposed to be. You've obviously forgotten all the lives lost for your right to say what you wish. How bout you stop abusing it!

3. KEEP THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

KEEP THE ELECTORAL COLLEGE

With the huge election victory of Donald Trump, the peace loving liberals have come out to show the rest of the world their true colors; and those colors are not red, white and blue.

No, instead the so-called “peace-loving” and “tolerant” have shown everyone just who they are through rioting, vandalism, acts of violence and crying out unjustifiably against our new president. These so-called “intellectuals” are paid by the likes of George Soros and various other anti-American institutions many of which George Soros is funding with many, if not all, liberal political figures, leftist celebrities and the corporate criminal class. These socialists/communists claim to be about liberty for all, justice and peace. However, nothing could be further from the truth! Colleges across the United States have continuously brainwashed the Snowflake generation with anti-American communistic ideology for many years now. We see the evidence and depth of this brainwashing every time these soft sensitive whiners do not get their way. (Or don't get a trophy for simply being alive.)

Donald Trump was right. The election was rigged. However, with the rural white working-class vote showing up so strongly, evening the liberal dead voters, the illegal Mexican vote, nor the African-American multiple-votes-per-person vote could overcome the onslaught.

They are claiming the Electoral College is antiquated, based on racism, and used to keep whites in places of power. The leftist media (you know, the same media that lied continuously to the American public about Clinton's 86% chance of winning the white house?) have continued to foster the falsehood against the electoral college as well. These are the same people who would do away with the Constitution, and our other Charters of Freedom. Though the first amendment continues to be abused by the leftist media, they would revoke the second amendment at the least. Once this was done the rest of the Constitution is easily condemned. Additionally, to revoke the electoral college would remove the voice and vote of rural America.

The question is, do we now rest on the election results (which Trump not only won by electoral vote, but also by the popular vote-look it up) and wait without fight for the socialist and communists to wage a war on yet another part of American political tradition, or do we stand up once more-just like we did in the election-and say, “Hell no!”

If you love America, and want to protect our Charters of Freedom, and keep America, American, then sign this petition to preserve the Electoral College.

4. Internet Purge for one Week

Social media and or media in general have gotten out of hand.

We need to purge the Internet out of our lives for at least a week. I think people need to go back to the days when we actually talked to each other.

We have become so disconnected with no human interaction it's no wonder we can't live in harmony with each other. We plug in and check out and never unplug!

We are addicted and the government is our enabler! Shut it down! I need to purge the Internet for at least a week! I want to step out and get to know my neighbor, my community, my city, my people with whom I need to be in good harmony with.

Shut it down! Purge it out!

5. Protect our Youth: No to Drama on Television

I have created this petition in the hopes of protecting the minds of our youth that are being corrupted by what they are watching everyday in the television.

So many television series are openly showcasing immorality, crime, adultery, homosexuality, addiction, young ones placed in love teams and many other things that are unhealthy for the minds of our youth today.

What are these television series teaching us? What is the moral of the story?

6. Tighten fatality image distribution regulations

Tonight (24/05/2016) on channel Nine News Melbourne at 6pm there was a story about a "Man killed, several others hurt, as petrol tanker flips in nightmare crash on Calder Freeway".

During the news report the reporter and camera crossed to footage of a white squashed vehicle that contained a deceased person. The reporter claimed there could be more than one deceased person in the vehicle.

Unfortunately in the interest of public information the media believe it's fine to show these images, often even before family and friends are informed of the deceased passing.

From the images shown tonight it may have been possible for family members to identify the vehicle before they were formally informed, I'm calling on members of the public to sign this petition to request the Australian Media and Communication Authority tighten regulations around the display of graphic images involving deceased people within 24 hours of an accident.

7. ER, acute care services to be suspended at Preeceville hospital, starting June 1

Sunrise agreed on June 2015 when placed on temporary bypass that they would bring Preeceville Hospital back up to standing once another Dr was secured by Jan 2016.

A full year has passed and nothing, Sunrise are making 6 more Long term care beds and four are for palliative care and IV therapy. Those are our 10 acute beds. And no ER services.
Our Hospital & long term care facility is newly built with over a million dollars worth of funds raised to ensure the communities surrounding Preeceville would be cared for.

8. Keep Allied - Kansas City Open

It has come to the attention of our professional organizations that Allied is planning to close its Kansas City office in hopes that the St. Louis office can coordinate campaigns and screenings remotely for the Kansas City market. We object in the strongest possible terms and would like to lodge a formal complaint.

We understand that the quickest way to balance a company’s budget in the short term is often through its payroll. As home to Hallmark, Applebee’s, Sprint, Teva, Cerner, and numerous other multinational corporations, Kansas City is well versed in business.

But we see shortsightedness in closing Allied’s Kansas City office that not only undervalues our local film market, but also undermines Allied’s ability to serve its clients—especially since there was no slowing down of business being done here.

The continued growth of the Kansas City suburbs means that our population has been outpacing St. Louis’ modest growth by 2.4%. Thanks in part to newly revived arts, marketing, and technology scenes, Kansas City is now number one on Huffington Post’s coolest places to live,  among other media outlets that compliment our hometown this way. It performs better in film attendance as well, and has always been known as a fertile test market for studio movies.

Kansas City boasts a zealous and cohesive film community, serving as the headquarters for AMC Theatres in the U.S. The Kansas City Film Critics Circle, founded in 1966 and second only to the New York Film Critics Circle in age, has more active members than the St. Louis Film Critics Association, which was founded in 2004.

Many of Kansas City’s critics are longer tenured, better connected, and have a larger reach than those in the St. Louis area. Our critics also serve most of Kansas, Arkansas, Nebraska, Iowa, parts of Oklahoma, and Eastern Missouri. Allied’s Kansas City office is critical to continuing the work which your clients also rely on.

The Kansas City Allied office also coordinates with the various film organizations in town. From Kansas City Women in Film and Television to Independent Filmmakers Coalition Kansas City, Film Society Kansas City, CinemaKC, to the Kansas City Film and Media Office, Allied’s Kansas City office has been critical to coordinating events with these organizations throughout Kansas City and the surrounding regional area. These are all organizations that have a vested interest in the success of film at all levels.

Ultimately the Kansas City office is here to support the needs of Allied’s clients. Many studios see Kansas City as a supportive mid-sized market that continues to grow. The cohesiveness of the film community has and continues to benefit Allied in its pursuit to promote films across a wide spectrum of interests and age ranges.

Since we feel that closing the Kansas City office makes any relationship with Allied more difficult, this will directly impact the studios distributing these films.

9. Petition Harris Faulker & Hillary Clinton for an interview together

Hillary Clinton has mostly been interviewed at length by news media outlets whose political leanings are along the same lines, as the Democratic National Convention.

As a voter I would like to see both sides of the political aisle interview and speak with, both sides' media favorites. The voting American citizens should be allowed to know as much as possible about each possible candidate, prior to Election Day 2016.

If there is only one conservative who was ever allowed full access for a transparent interview whom Hillary Clinton's campaign would allow, I petition for Harris Faulkner to be given the opportunity.

10. Legalize Marijuana: Fight crime, not Cannabis

1. Prohibition has enormous social costs.
2. The benefits of criminalization are minuscule to nonexistent.
3. Prohibition is racist.
4. Cannabis has legitimate medical effects.
5. Legalization won’t lead to increased use.
6. Cannabis is less harmful than alcohol or tobacco.

11. We want the media to run five more minutes per week of positive news about women

#I want the media to run five more minutes of positive news about women.

Women have in the past been viewed as lesser beings, less stronger, less successful, less intelligent, less ambitious and this is what is being mirrored by the media, as stories of women being battered abused and mistreated are aired frequently.

We are not asking the media to ignore these issues because we know they exist we just want more positive stories of women influencing the community positively because these stories too exist and we want to hear about these more often.

And so girls can have role models and know that they should not accept mistreatment or abuse.

12. Stop International Governments from Censoring Films

Late 2014, Sony Pictures' personal files were hacked and leaked to the public after their release of the upcoming film, The Interview. Facing threats from the hackers threatening to expose further secrets and possible 9/11 like attacks on theaters, Sony decided to pull the release of the film.

The Interview mocks North Korea's supreme leader Kim Jong Un. Cinemas in the US cancelled screenings of the film.

13. Mandate the FCC to stop broadcasting of the female-derogative "B-word" on TV

The “B–word” is a derogatory word, a pejorative*. Yet it is spoken on TV every day, in reference to women and girls.

Repeated television-broadcast use of this word implies worthlessness and inferiority of half the population of our country. It is a verbal manifestation of hate and misogyny against female-kind. And it is now used in every single show on TV, just about – from cartoons and comedy, to drama, “reality” and talk shows. We can’t escape it! Its prolific use is teaching the whole next generation of kids and young people that it’s ‘normal’ to refer to women as “B”+ "itches."

Women are not “B-words” and it’s time we stopped allowing this hate-speech against women on TV. Sign this petition to encourage Congress to pass a bill mandating that the FCC stop the broadcast of this vile and prejudicial word on television networks and programs.

*Pejorative (definition): adjective 1. having a disparaging, derogatory, or belittling effect or force.

14. Boycott NFL Advertisers if Marshawn Lynch is fined during Superbowl XLIX

The NFL has aggressively fined Seattle Seahawk Marshawn Lynch for not speaking with the media and grabbing his crotch after touchdowns. They continue to threaten him with further fines.

Lynch has been warned that failure to comply with Media Day sessions will result in a $500,000 fine. The Seahawks have been warned that celebratory crotch grabs will result in further fines for Lynch as well as penalty yards during the Superbowl.

As fans of the Seahawks and football itself, we find the league is unfairly targeting Lynch and have had enough. If the League fines Lynch for anything related to the Superbowl, we the fans will boycott all Superbowl advertisers until the next Superbowl, approximately 1 year.

With sponsors such as Anheuser-Busch, Coke, Doritos, Pepsi, and T-Mobile, we feel that the NFL will receive our message if we unite in opposition to their predatory tactics.

16. Canadian Digital Rights: a call for virtual borders to be removed

Because of ridiculous copyright laws a lot of videos and websites have been banned from Canadians and other countries. Its not fair and its not right because we pay for our internet and I don't think we are receiving what we are paying for...

It is not right to block information... It violates our rights to Freedom of Information...

I believe we should have equal access to the internet we are paying for...

It's done on Netflix, youtube and other websites that provide videos...

We should not be told we can't watch a video because of the country we live in.

17. LYNCH

It's all over youtube, NFL channel & ESPN NEWS.

18. Offically backed options for importing/translating titles would you buy?

Over the years, I have come across many instances of publishers not releasing titles in my area or in my desired language. Obviously, as a business major and entertainment industry experience I understand some of fiscal reasoning behind such decisions. However, as a fan this is unacceptable and I would like to attempt to do something about it with everyone's help. The idea is to find a way supported by the publisher and fans alike.

Depending on the success of this project, I will be branching this to out to other entertainment mediums (anime, manga, movies, music and events).

19. Arrest The Media For Inciting Riots And Violence

Recent debate over the types of photos used to portray black shooting victims exposes a widely held bias that assumes they are criminals, rights advocates said this week as many in the African-American community called attention to what they say is mainstream media misrepresentation in the wake of yet another police shooting of an unarmed black man. Police shot and killed unarmed Missouri teenager Michael Brown, 18, on Aug. 9 in Ferguson, a suburb of St. Louis, sparking protests in the mostly black community against the mostly white police force.

Though some initial media reports showed Brown smiling at his high school graduation in cap and gown, most chose a photo of a stoic-looking Brown wearing a red jersey and throwing what some could interpret as a gang sign, which friends said was simply a peace sign.

Some experts said such media portrayals reveal a pattern of criminalizing black bodies in the U.S. media.

“It’s playing into the bias exposed after Trayvon Martin was killed. Even though young white people wear hoodies too, [George] Zimmerman saw someone who was … ‘up to no good,’” said Rashad Robinson, executive director of Color of Change, a group aimed at strengthening black Americans’ political voice.

“These young people have their bodies criminalized even after death.”

Decriminalization occurs when images chosen by media consciously or unconsciously create a justification for why people of color are killed, he said.

After African-American teen Renisha McBride was shot and killed by a resident in a mostly white neighborhood while reportedly asking for help after a car accident, the media focused on whether McBride was drunk or high on marijuana at the time — a debate that Robinson said glosses over the fact that she probably posed no threat to her shooter.

Many African-Americans feel as if they have to prove they are “one of the good ones” in order to gain sympathy in mainstream America, he said, noting that Brown’s mother told reporters after his death that her son had graduated and was headed for college.

“They have to earn the right for the benefit of the doubt or to be humanized or to gain empathy for their family,” Robinson said. “This is how the media views the humanity of black people, their dignity in life and in death.”

Exacerbating the problem, Robinson said, are media portrayals of African-American men in narrow roles.

It was nice watching Ed Schultz have to eat crow, because he got caught dead to rights. He knew full well that he edited Perry's speech to purposely leave off the debt part in order to try and brand Governor Perry as a racist. Do you all see a pattern forming with all of this? There is a reason why I harp on and on and on about not trusting the national media. I remember watching Andrea Mitchell of NBC and MSBNC reporting at a Sarah Palin Going Rouge book signing saying that the people standing in line "were mostly white" like what that have to do with anything I'm not sure. With all that said, it doesn't surprise me at all that NBC News edited the Zimmerman 911 call and took out what the 911 dispatcher said with the intent to try and paint George Zimmerman as a racist. It's just another example in a long line of shameful race manipulating tactics passed off as "journalism" by NBC News and the national media in general.

At what point does all of this start to backfire and people in the media are held accountable for there actions as you would a Law Enforcement Officer or Public Official. At what point do you cry wolf so many times and beat the race issue into the ground that you make the problem worse.

20. Access for International Journalists to West Papua

Indonesia does not give international journalists access to West Papua to record the grave injustices done towards the West Papuans.

Up until now Australia has also actively ignored the West Papuan injustice. For decades it has unwittingly done deals with human right abusers and provided weapons that have killed West Papuans and sustained their torment. The West Papuan genocide is now at 500,000.

Recently the Honourable Julie Bishop was most outspoken against Russia on the 298 deaths from airplane crash MH17, a tragedy that happened some 12,000 km away from Australia. We encourage the Honourable Julie Bishop to do good again by unplugging the ears and opening the eyes of the Australian Government and stand up to Indonesia which is only 200 km away from Australia.

Please support this petition and the letter we’re sending:

Dear Ms Bishop,

West Papua was previously a Dutch colony but was handed over to Indonesia in the 1960s without the consultation of the indigenous people and entirely against their will. The West Papuan people were denied their fundamental rights to self-determination and independence ever since and are struggling for their rights to this day against an increasingly brutal Indonesian military who have killed an estimated 500,000 indigenous Papuans. In an attempt to cover up the human rights atrocities, genocide and occupation; the Indonesian government still bans foreign journalists from reporting in West Papua and with the threat of violence restricts even local journalists from documenting the independence struggle.

The people of West Papua desperately need international journalist access and media freedom in their country so that the outside world will be able to take notice of the human rights violations happening there. This will allow the international community to act to prevent such violence against the West Papuans in the future and allow them their human rights including their long overdue right to self-determination.

Thankfully, on 30th July 2014, the New Zealand Parliament passed an historic motion, moving that “the House call upon the new President of Indonesia to commit to genuine media freedom in West Papua including the right of local and international journalists to report on the political situation there without risk of imprisonment or harassment by the Indonesian state.” The motion was passed with no opposition and was a major landmark on the road to journalists’ access to West Papua.

Recently the Indonesian military began an operation in the Lanny Jaya region of West Papua in an attempt to exterminate pro-independence sentiment. Indonesian soldiers are currently burning villages, killing livestock and forcing thousands of villagers to flee into hiding in the jungle where they are suffering in poverty. On 6th August, two French journalists, Thomas Dandois and Valentine Bourrat who had been trying to document this emergency situation for French/German TV Channel Arte, were arrested by the Indonesian police. They were being threatened with a 5 year jail sentence and a 40,000 US dollar fine simply because they were journalists operating in West Papua.

21. Prevent Identity Theft on Facebook: Hide Real Names

We the people asking Facebook social media to protect our real names on their social media site ....keep real names PRIVATE and only accessible to Facebook and/or if a crime is involved accessible to government agency ...

Let us use NICKNAMES on the Facebook public timelines. KEEP real names PRIVATE to protect IDENTITY THEFT.

22. Petition Calling all Media/Music/Film/Arts Representatives to show UNITY

We are concerned regarding the Conflict in Palestine and Israel.

We need to find peace.

23. Please don't ban Staffordshire bull terriers

Staffordshire bull terriers are an English breed of dog that has recently gained a really bad reputation. They are popular with irresponsible people who get them just to look tough and are thus used as a status symbol. Thanks to partly to people who get them and don't train and/or socialise them properly, they have gained a reputation for being vicious and aggressive dogs who attack and sometimes kill children.

However, if raised properly, Staffordshire bull terriers (or staffies, as they are often referred to as) can become very loyal and loving dogs. In fact, there has even been at least one report of them saving a child's life. I have also heard about one staffie who helped find a missing dog, and I am a firm believer that, when put into the right hands, even non-hero staffies can become very affectionate, loyal and obedient dogs.

The fact is that ANY breed of dog can be aggressive if not trained or socialised properly, or if tormented. I feel that a law requiring dog keepers to train and socialise their animals properly, as well as a law requiring that children be taught how to behave around dogs, would be much more effective than breed-specific legislation.

24. Punish those in the Media for Deliberately Upskirting Princess Kate

On 28th April, 2014 the ABC Television show “Media Watch” replayed footage originally run on 8th April, 2014 on free-to-air public television by the Channel 9 ‘Today’ television show.

That footage – suitably censored – can be viewed at http://youtu.be/yN9fUiiMPwE

Both the ABC and Channel 9 are guilty of deliberately and specifically ‘upskirting’ Princess Kate as she stepped off a plane when a gust of wind briefly lifted her skirt.

This was an illegal, criminal action, not to mention being offensively rude.

Both television stations deliberately paused the video footage at the exact moment of maximum exposure up the Princess’ skirt and then – to add insult to injury – zoomed in to a close-up, an action inarguably no different from the illegal activity of 'upskirting.'

Given that the Princess was wearing a full-length and completely modest skirt, what the two television stations have done is nothing less than a deliberate invasion of her privacy.

Not only was no attempt being made to protect Princess Kate’s modesty and dignity, every effort - both deliberate and disgraceful to Australia and severely disrespectful to the Princess - was made to invade her privacy.

We, the decent citizens of Australia are egregiously offended and embarrassed…

· by the wilful, deliberate activities of these two television stations.

· that the two television stations have so egregiously and so deliberately offended a member of the Royal Family.

· that the actions of these two television stations have projected an image of Australia to the world as being a smut-loving, rude and disrespectful nation with an inability, as would become a properly-civilised society, to be respectful of women in general and royalty in particular when embarrassing circumstances beyond their control occur.

26. Stop magazines sending the wrong impression to teenagers

Statistics have shown that more teenagers are reading magazines to keep up on the daily look and what's "popular" so they can fit in with society.

27. Black missing kids should get the same media attention as white missing kids

Example Jhessye. Kindergartner Jhessye Shockley, 5, was reported missing from her Glendale home Oct. 11, 2011. On the second anniversary of her disappearance, what are the latest developments?

Jhessye as a black missing kid did not get media attention like Caylee. The Caylee case attracted a significant amount of national media attention, and was regularly the main topic of many TV talk shows, including those hosted by Greta Van Susteren, Nancy Grace, Geraldo Rivera, and others. It has been featured on Fox's America's Most Wanted, NBC's Dateline, and ABC's 20/20.

28. Save Our Space

We are currently temporarily occupying the space at the old Vintage Warehouse at 84-88 Lower Parliament Street, Nottingham, NG1 1EH.

We wish to make this occupation a permanent one. Our primary use for the building would be to use it as an education facility for young people in the Arts and it is also our intention to provide many smaller spaces that are rentable at low cost to Nottingham based designers/craftespeople/artists and performers within this buiding.

The idea is to nurture young creatives through the difficult process of learning their skills and provide them with enough support to set up their own creative businesses which can be incubated through the low cost rent of the smaller spaces. The main part of the building would be a flexible hub for creative entrepeneurs and other members of the public as well as a performance, exhibition and retail space.

The building needs to be granted a change of use from the current retail only use to a multi-functional one and needs major investement from the Arts Council to make it fit for purpose. As a smaller company and not one of the Arts Council's National Portfolio Organisations we need your help to petition the City Council for the change of use and to persuade the local Arts Council that the facility is needed.

Please sign here to support local artists and businesses.

29. Stop Negative Media Ads by Conservative Party in Canada

Stephen Harper and the Conservative Party of Canada are using donations and tax revenue to post negative, misleading attack ads. These ads are pervasive in all forms of the media including TV, internet and radio. They even take place outside of election periods.

Rather than promoting a positive agenda, they make fun in a derisive and false way their opponents. This should stop now as Canada and Canadians should and do hold themselves to a higher standard.

30. Appropriate Classification Movies for Babes In Arms Screenings

During the past 50 years, thousands of research studies have revealed that the media can be a powerful teacher of children and have a profound impact on their health.

To date, too little has been done by parents, health care practitioners, schools, the government and the entertainment industry to protect children from harmful media effects. By selecting M and MA movies for Babes In Arms sessions, cinemas are not helping.

Babes in Arms sessions are a great idea for parents and guardians to be able to enjoy movies while taking care of children, but movies need to be appropriate. Little eyes and ears absorb more than we realise.

In Australia, we have film classifications for a reason. There are good reasons why movies are classed as being suitable for only Mature audiences and adults only. Therefore, we should not have to choose between missing out on having some "time out" while watching a movie, or subjecting out children to a movie that has drug and alcohol abuse, strong language, sexuality/nudity, and an intense action sequences etc.

Keep Babes In Arms Movies to G and PG movies only!
