1. All Ohio Excluded Gambler Winnings / Jackpots to go towards Problem Gambling Funds

In States that have legalized casino gambling, problem gamblers can join a self exclusion list. This list is intended to prevent problem gamblers access to casinos. In Ohio, as in many states, problem gamblers may still gamble in casinos they are banned from since most casinos do not have procedures in place to prevent them from entering the casino. If a problem gambler in Ohio goes to a casino they are excluded from entering and hits a taxable jackpot, the casino would realize at that point that they are on the exclusion list and the jackpot would be forfieted. Currently, casinos/racinos in Ohio governed by the Ohio Lottery Comission are not required to turn excluded gambler winnings/jackpots over to Problem Gambling funds. Casino/Racinos not run by the Ohio Lottery Comission already donate excluded gambler winnings to Problem Gambling funds. By signing this petition, you are asking the State of Ohio and the Ohio Lottery Comission to mandate that any winnings/jackpots won by Ohio exluded gambers be turned over to fund programs to help Problem Gambers. By not having this protocol in place, there is no incentive for casinos/racinos to prevent problem gamblers from playing in their establishments. In fact, it only increases the casino/racino's profits, because they are currently allowed to void the excluded gambler's winnings/jackpots.

2. Don't Gamble Away Our Public Services

The Statewide Gambling Therapy Service have had critical funding removed after a State Government tender decision to contract out to a private provider.

The Statewide Gambling Therapy Service is an important and successful South Australian free public service that assists with the rehabilitation of problem gamblers. This life changing service reduces the strain of social and medical costs to the community caused through problem gambling.

The privatisation of this service is a loss to South Australians.

Say NO to the privatisation of our public health services. Sign the petition and demand the State Government find the urgently needed funding to sustain this vital service.

[ENGLISH]
This petition is to call upon the Singapore Government to immediately and unequivocally reject Singapore Pools and Singapore Turf Club's appeal for exemption from the Remote Gambling Act. We, as fellow citizens of Singapore, are deeply concerned about the possible implications of allowing such exemptions due to the many and real problems caused by the easy availability of online betting.

Even setting limits on how much and how often one can bet is not enough, because the very nature of online betting can cause young people to become addicted to gambling - which can last for a lifetime and be just as addictive or even more than drugs.

According to today's Straits Times articles dated 15 Sep 2016:

1. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/legal-online-betting-may-be-available-soon
2. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/online-betting-fear-of-rise-in-addiction

Singapore Pools and the Singapore Turf Club (STC) "are preparing to launch their online betting services, in anticipation of getting the green light from the authorities." And more audaciously, they've even run "final tests on their online betting platforms and have prepared advisories for staff and customers."

Such actions are contrary to the intended objective of the Remote Gambling Act (as listed in Part 1, Section 7), which is to protect "young persons and other vulnerable persons from being harmed or exploited by remote gambling".

However, our own MPs have warned that allowing these lottery companies to be exempt from the Remote Gambling Act will "send mixed signals." Furthermore, social workers have seen the rise of additional problems that arise from problem gambling.

In fact, NCPG's own statistics for 2011-2014 have shown that problem gamblers are starting younger, no thanks to online gambling (http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/problem-gambling-rate-spore-falls-more-starting-young-survey) .

Already, the legalization of casinos in Singapore has led to families in Singapore getting hooked on gambling, and has led to a rise in crime and bankruptcies. Many of us personally know of families and loved ones who have fallen into the trap of gambling addiction, and the pain and anguish of trying to help them overcome, only to see them relapse and lie and even attempt suicide.

Families have been ruined, fathers and mothers have attempted suicide, careers and marriages destroyed... is it worth it to sacrifice the future of a nation and our next generation for short-term financial gains?

Even the exclusion orders that we can place has proven to be of limited use, as problem gambling is extremely addictive - even more than drugs. Scientific research (e.g. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-brain-gets-addicted-to-gambling/) has clearly shown that gambling is just as - if not more - addictive than drugs. If we are willing to institute the death penalty for drugs because of the social destruction that drugs cause, then why do we allow gambling to enter our nation too?

Thus, the best defense against gambling addiction is to prevent gambling addiction in the first place. Prevention is better than cure.

Therefore let us call upon the Government to set a clear sign that online gambling will continue to not be tolerated, especially in an age where the Internet makes it too easy for young people to get hooked.

[BAHASA MELAYU]

1. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/legal-online-betting-may-be-available-soon
2. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/online-betting-fear-of-rise-in-addiction

(http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/problem-gambling-rate-spore-falls-more -starting-young-survey).

1. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/legal-online-betting-may-be-available-soon 2. http://www.straitstimes.com/singapore/online-betting-fear-of-rise-in-addiction
(http://news.asiaone.com/news/singapore/problem-gambling-rate-spore-falls-more-starting-young-survey)
(http://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-the-brain-gets-addicted-to-gambling/)

4. DECLINE Gambling/Liquor at 406 Lake

Lucky Brew LLC has applied for a license to open a Video Gambling and Liquor establishment at 406 Lake Street, immediately Next Door to the Maywood Fine Arts, The Metra Station, and near the Maywood Library.

This is an inappropriate location for such an establishment as it increases the risk of aggravated crime, public drunkenness, and theft to Maywood's Children and Families. Show the Trustees and the Mayor that you are watching their actions by signing this petition.

The public hearing is scheduled for Tuesday June 28th at 6:30 PM in Council Chambers at 125 S 5th Ave in Maywood, IL.

This is an open meeting and public comment is welcome.

5. Community against a new casino on Meath Street

This is a petition to fight against the new Casino that they want to build in the Dublin 8 area on Meath St.

We already have a small casino and three bookies and we feel that it would be a bad idea for the young people in this area to have this Casino.

We need more support around sports/music/drama and other activities for our young people to do.

So we are asking people to fight against this and sign this petition and stop this Casino from being built.

Thank you.

6. Close down Betting Shops Opened near Schools or Children's Playing Areas

I started this petition to raise the attention from government and law makers. In the recent years our High Streets have become overflowing with the number of betting shops.

Not only that they have the permission to also be opened near pubs, children's playground, schools and other public places. Ladbrokes is one of the leading betting shops in the UK with at least one shop opened on every High Street in the UK.

Why is it that the government gives itself a permission to open a betting shop near a children's playground or a s school? It should clearly raise number of concerns here. I live in East London, Newham, Little Ilford. With no underground station, neither any High Street near by, but the area has a Ladbrokes opened right opposite the pub, right behind the betting shop a playground and a groceries shop and post office next door to it. This is absolutely immoral to me.

I am concerned with the number of drug and alcohol addicts hanging around outside the shop daily. With the youth around them. Awful.

Please sign this petition so we can fight the rights that our kids deserve. Let's fight for a better and safer neighbourhood together.

7. Stop The Promotion of Online Gambling by Singapore Pools and STC

We, the undersigned, are beseeching the Prime Minister to deny the current and future applications by Singapore Turf Club and Singapore Pools for their exemption from the Remote Gambling Act through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

We believe that gambling is a vice in whatever forms and thus should never be promoted. The introduction of online gambling by Singapore Turf Club and Singapore Pools only serves to enhance the availability and accessibility of gambling channels. We fear that this can only serve to entice more people to gamble especially young internet-savvy Singaporeans.

For the sake of our children and future generations of Singaporeans to come, we will be grateful if you can accede to our request.

8. Leave the national lottery alone

Camelot are changing the rules again and the latest changes will cut our chances of winning the lottery by a high margin.

They say the opposite but mathematicians have worked it out and they say it will cut our chances. Plus what about all the fixed number tickets that are bought?

Some people have had these numbers for years are they going to have to change them to allow for the extra 10 numbers ?

9. Business Owners Concerned About Gambling Expansion

Despite their promises, casinos are not in the business of helping neighboring businesses. They're only goal is to get people inside their casino and keep them there as long as they can.

They're able to lower prices on food, shopping, and entertainment, under-cutting local competition, making up for those losses with slot revenues.

Concerns about gambling expansion act to thwart investment and expansion of Newport businesses. If gambling expansion is allowed at Newport Grand, despite decades rejecting gambling referendums, the impact on the local hospitality industry will be devastating.

10. Stop the Casino at the Source Mall in Westbury

As of December 30, 2014, the Nassau County Off Track Betting Corporation has decided that it will place a 1000 terminal Video Lottery Terminal Casino in the vacant Fortunoff Store in the Source Mall.

Residents of the surrounding residential areas are opposed to such a Casino as the area will be burdened with additional traffic that existing roadways cannot handle, increased crime due to an increase in the overall area population on a daily basis and the fact that the facility will be open 20 hours per day.

The site is within 600 feet of a senior citizen residential area as well as near over 300 private family homes, in addition to schools within a short radius.

11. More poker tables at Jupiters Casino

This is the most horrendous poker room not only in Australia but maybe the world. When all the factors are taken in to consideration of the location and transient style city the Gold Coast is, this casino should be looking to accommodate the 1000's of thousands of visitors we get every day to the establishment. Echo Entertainment, as the name suggests, is here to entertain, yet what I see almost every day (I play poker 5-7 times per week, mostly at nights), is long lists of visitors and locals who can not play the game they would like to play.

During the weekend of the 15th-16th of November, where the hotels on the Gold Coast were at capacity due to the G20 summit long weekend, numerous other functions on, there was a list which was so large that there was a scrolling bar on the left, I had to start this petition. I heard at least 30-40 people last night lose their cool at the ridiculous 3 HOUR WAIT TIMES to get a seat. This is not entertainment Echo, this is an embarrassment.

The thing I don't understand, is why out of the two South-East Queensland casinos, Brisbane has a decent amount of tables, yet Gold Coast does not. The nature of our city, lends it self to "a great night out", for many men and woman, that includes a game of poker, however, they are so often, unable to get a game.

12. Protect Our Community from Excessive Gambling

"Supermarket chain Countdown is making it easier to gamble, installing Lotto outlets at its checkouts so that customers don't have to go to a separate counter."

Source: ONE News
http://tvnz.co.nz/national-news/fears-lotto-countdown-checkouts-encourage-gambling-5858566

Please sign this petition to help our voice be heard that we the wider community want to protect those vulnerable from easy access to gambling.

Don't let Countdown make it harder for those addicted to gambling to choice between food for their family and a Lotto ticket.

13. Get rid of slot machines in Australia

Australians are loosing a large amount of money through the addictive use of slot machines. People are spending so much money on these machines that they are risking getting into debt; losing their homes and ending up on the street.

Too many families and relationships have been ruined by these machines.

Time to stand up.

14. Stop Lone Managing of Betting Shops after 6 p.m.

William Hill have decided to make staff work alone rather than in pairs. Obviously this presents a safety threat to staff who continually receive abuse & personal threats. They will also have to handle large cash sums in the evening, leaving them open to robbery.

Health & Safety rules that no staff should feel threatened or abused whilst in employment but William Hills have discarded this information and are quite happy to have their staff left in a vulnerable position whilst making large profits.

Staff are in no position to argue otherwise they may lose their jobs if they refuse to man the shops.

15. Support the legalization of gambling in the state of Texas

With the state of Texas growing, the legalization of gambling is necessary.

Regulated gambling can can create more jobs throughout the whole state and the ability to keep tax money in our state, instead of Texas residents going to other surrounding states.

This will help with the state's rainy day fund, and water funding, road construction, education and more.

16. STOP the advertising of online gambling before 9 pm daily

I have suffered with a gambling addiction for the last two years. This started when I went off work Jan 2012 with work related stress quickly followed by depression. I started using online bingo sites and quickly mounted a debt of over £18,000.

I have suffered with mental health suicidal thoughts and severe depression through these sites. I want these sites OFF TV at least before 9pm.

Help me to get these sites better legislated (and even better stopped). I am aware they grip vulnerable people and are quick to advertise how much they pay out but do NOT advertise how much they take off people and destroy people's lives.

17. Stop Casinos in Sri Lanka

Sri Lanka passed a law approving the set of of Casinos in 2010 and since them a number of small scale casinos have been in operation. This has caused major social problems including sex trade, alcohol and drug abuse, gun culture and many cultural conflicts.

His Excellency Mahinda Rajapakshe's government is now seeking to approve major casino projects under Section 3(4) of the Strategic Development Projects Act, No. 14 of 2008 as amended which includes tax relief for Casino Hotel Projects.

This will cause social turmoil and we need to petition the government to first stop the concessions and secondly to ban all forms of gambling including casinos as it is against the teachings of all major religions in Sri Lanka

18. Say No to the National Lottery Price Hike

As the National Lottery is supposed to be Non Profit Making, why is there a need to Hike the cost of a ticket to £2.00 a line?

They say that there will be bigger prizes but it's hard enough just winning the lower prizes.

It will just make people that can't afford it to end up in debt, especially the People that have been putting on the same numbers since the lottery started and are afraid not to put the draw on because of the fear that their numbers might be drawn and all because it's an addictive pursuit forced upon the general public. By Camelot.

19. Stop gambling ads and bloody tom waterhouse during nrl broadcasts

We object to the insidious and repetitious broadcast of gambling advertisements during the telecast of the Rugby League on channel 9, GEM or Foxtel and the normalising of gambling and sport.

20. New Identical Dice Requirement for the Casino Industry

We are offering for consideration a new concept in dice manufacturing that establishes the table seated plane of standard cube which restricts the irregular patterning of the cube to the established and accepted cube planes. The new concept specifications were modeled from a single dice of a cancelled dice set at a local Casino.

The information that supports the claim for the need of the deregulation of the current Industry standard dice, the regulation of the new standard and the protection of current and future craps players is at: http://DeadCrapsPlayerSociety.com

21. Support HR 2366 to legalize online internet Poker

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s-mHdZbYWKU&fb_source=message

22. Restrict Wall Street Excesses

The buying and selling of credit derivatives based on unsafe mortgages by Wall Street traders was a primary reason for the financial collapse, for which the American people had to bail out the banks.

The bad mortgages were bundled and then traders would "bet" on whether (or how soon) this or that bundle would fail.

It was clearly gambling - and it's legal. When they miscalculated on just how many bad mortgages there were, the bottom fell out. The traders lost nothing - we bailed them out.

23. Stop AFL's promotion of betting

The relentless and excessive promotion of live odds/betting on the scoreboards screens at both the MCG and Etihad stadium needs to be stopped.

Exposure to gambling advertisements from a young age can normalise gambling for children. A number of studies, including one by Adelaide University’s Associate Professor Paul Delfabbro, show that this exposure can lead to a greater risk of children developing gambling problems as they grow older.

The AFL have publically stated that they are concerned about this issue but have done nothing as they are not responsible for this promotion. Both venues - the MCC and Etihad state that it is the AFL that is responsible. The Federal Government in the Senate is currently holding an enquiry called the Joint Select Committee on Gambling reform.

This reform is moving too slowly. Community action is needed. I urge you to support this issue by signing up.

24. Make Employee Shuttle for Luxor Hotel available 24/7

in the summer time, when weather is above 100, hotel makes employees walk across the street to old employee parking lot which i about 1/2 mile walk, new employee parking, which is located right next to employees entrance},is used for hotel guest.

Why does the hotel provide shuttle only from 8pm to 6am? They should provide it 24hrs when they say we have to use that parking lot across the street, for safety of employees from muggings, getting hit my traffic on las vegas strip, and heat exhausting.

25. No to Betfred in Deptford High Street

Betfred applied for a Betting License at 93-95 Deptford High Street, most recently the home of the Halifax. They got it (Feb 9th) because the Gambling Act 2005 disallows almost any kind of objection.

They then applied to Lewisham Planning for change of use since the present planning permission only covers Building Societies. Lewisham turned them down. This petition, then totalling 181 signatures, was submitted together with a paper petition, to form one of the 79 objections that were made to Betfred's application.

Betfred are now appealing the decision at the next level, the government's Planning Inspectorate. In their appeal, Betfred state:

"...the use of the unit as a licensed betting office rather than a bank/buiding society would not adversely affect the diversity of uses or the vitality and viability of the area. The proposed use will create a level of footfall similar to that of an A1 retail unit."

Except most retail units are not open in the evening encouraging drinking and begging outside on the pavement.

"...there is nothing to suggest the use of the premises as a betting shop would cause harm in terms of anti-social behaviour, crime or disturbance to neighbouring residents and other users of the town centre. This reason for refusal is based on a subjective view of the type of people that use betting shops. There is no evidence that customers visiting betting shops are any more likely to cause harm in terms of antisocial behaviour, crime or disturbance than any other use present along Deptford High Street."

Funny, then, that street drinking is only taking place outside betting shops and not other retail outlets...

See their original planning application online

They also applied to change the rear of the building, which they were granted.

If they win, Betfred will be the eighth bookies on the high street, and the sixth within a cluster of betting shops within a 150m stretch. Add the three round the corner in Evelyn Street and that's a total of eleven.

Make your objection known here, and if you have personal experience or a strong opinion, please leave a comment.

You are also invited to object in writing to the Planning Inspectorate by emailing:

NATIONAL PETITION

Stop Betting Shops

26. Stop betting shops taking over our high streets

The 2005 Gambling Act gives local authorities very limited powers to refuse Gambling Licenses and Planning Permission to large betting chains. When councils and local communities try to prevent new betting shops opening, companies appeal at great cost to the local authority – at a time when cuts to their funding make this impossible. The industry is prepared to bankrupt councils to get an even greater hold on our high streets.

Bookmakers are currently targeting the poorer areas in our cities and towns. In some cases there are as many as 12 or 13 in one street. In mad competition with each other, they bid for any freeholds available in the certain knowledge they will be granted licenses. Often they are clustered together and are the cause of antisocial behaviour and theft, making parts of a street a no-go area. They take advantage of people in desperate financial circumstances and are encouraging gambling addiction in those who can least afford it, threatening the futures of our communities' children.

We are calling on the government to change the Act and give local communities a greater say over their high streets. There should be a separate planning class for betting shops to give councils and residents the power to determine their location and overall numbers. Presently councils cannot deny an application on the basis of the number already open in their area.

John Penrose MP at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport is on record as saying he isn't convinced the law needs changing because he's only heard a complaint from one London Borough (Hackney).

Therefore the aim of this petition is to show the government that it is not just a problem in the poorer parts of London, but is prevalent across the country, especially in the outskirts of our major towns and cities.

It is not a petition against betting, it's about changing the law to enable communities to combat the proliferation of betting establishments.

It is also completely independent and aims to be cross-party. In London, the only voices to be heard so far are from Diane Abbott MP for Hackney, David Lammy MP for Tottenham, and Ken Livingstone MP for Brent East (in his campaign for Mayor of London). If your council or MP has it on their agenda let us know, or email them this petition and put it on their agenda.

Please help bring this to national and media (and therefore government) attention by signing the petition and passing it on to friends and relatives in other parts of the UK.

LOCAL PETITION

This national petition was started in Deptford, part of the London borough of Lewisham, where both Labour MP and council have not been particularly vocal about the problem of betting shops since 2009 when Lewisham Council was the lead authority on a proposal submitted to central government as a suggested amendment to the Sustainable Communities Act that would allow councils to have the power to cap the number of bookmakers in a certain area.

We're still waiting.

27. Not Another Gambling House in Tottenham

Regarding an application for a Bookmakers in Tottenham. The said address: 261a High Road Tottenham - Everybody's Music. This music shop has been in existence for more than 30 years. Naturally we, the Tottenham community will be sad to see the shop close. Even more sad to see Paddy Power in its place! The area already is a deprived area and has at least 37 Bookmakers in the vicinity. (Tottenham and Haringey Green Lanes.

Such establishments causes not only crime and disorder but are a public nuisance and clearly encourage anti-social behaviour.

Please support me in this petition, particularly if you reside or work in the N15 area. We have until 17 June 2010 to present this info to Haringey Council.

David Lammy, MP puts this message across on his website.

28. 'Track to Trail': Stop the slaughter of failed and retired race horses!

In Australia, approximately 40,000 horses are slaughtered each year for both human (overseas) and pet consumption, fertiliser and hide. Some sources actually put the figure at closer to 100,000. Of these horses it is estimated that a massive 60% are failed/retired race horses and broodmares (just used for breeding).

A lot of these horses are aged between 2 and 7 years old, a long way from their 25-30 year life expectancy. To make matters worse, instead of costing the owner the $100 to humanly put the horse down or keeping the horse until a suitable home can be found, the owner actually makes, on average, $450 profit on each horse sold to be slaughtered.
(Sources: http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; By Geraldine Chapman www.HorsePoint.com.au)

Once the horse has been sold, the horse can spend days and weeks being trucked around or held in tiny holding pens with other horses. They are exposed to extreme heat and cold, with minimal water and barely any food. Due to hunger, and stress, the horses start to fight over things such as manure, wood railings and bits of rubbish just to keep their digestive systems working (horses are designed to eat up to 22 hours a day). To a horse, this is torture.
(Sources: http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; http://www.optimail.com.au/berrime/slaughter.htm; By Geraldine Chapman www.HorsePoint.com.au)

A lot of these horses are healthy, safe and useful horses that could be re trained and re homed to be used in events, trail and pleasure riding.

Each year Australians spend millions of dollars betting on horses like the ones sold to be slaughtered. This money makes millions of dollars profit for the horse and harness racing industry (including gambling organisations).

It is our vision that a relative percentage of this profit be negotiated and donated to the temporary and long term care; and if possible the re training and re homing of horses not suitable or no longer useful for racing.

29. Boycott Casinos - Support Local Businesses & Green Jobs

Dear Friend,

The leadership on Beacon Hill is attempting to open the door to predatory gambling in Massachusetts. They have refused to conduct a proper study of the pros and cons of their proposals. The House passed its casino bill without holding public hearings.

They claim casinos will create jobs. But the facts show that casinos are jobs killers and community-busters. They drain so much money from the local economy that they kill 1.5 jobs for every one they create. And they saddle us with social problems that cost taxpayers $3 dollars for every $1 dollar in tax revenue.

Casinos are not part of the solution. We can create more jobs by investing in the energy-efficient green economy of the future. Casino jobs create addictions. Green jobs give us reliable energy, clean up the air, improve nutrition, reduce chronic disease, health costs, and avert the threat of climate change.

Sign our petition to ask the Massachusetts legislature to say NO to casino gambling.
