Rod R. Blagojevich, Governor of Illinois, refuses to live in the Governor's Mansion in Springfield and continues to reside full time in his Chicago home with his family.
There are no objections to strong family ties, however to maintain such a situation, the Governor uses a state owned plane to fly to and from Springfield on days when the legislature is in session.
The expense for such transportation is astronomical and needs to be curtailed. The State of Illinois is in deep financial trouble and cannot afford such luxuries for one individual.
We, the undersigned, call on Governor to curtail his need for transportation via state owned plane and save the State of Illinois as much as $6000.00 per trip to and from Springfield.
We call upon him to make other arrangements while the legislature is in session. Such arrangements such as moving into the Governor's Mansion while the legislature is in session or limiting flights to and from Springfield to one per week while the legislature is in session are only a couple of solutions.
The People of Illinois demand a government that is fiscally responsible and one that is accountable to all the people. We can no longer tolerate such abuse of spending by our elected officials.
