For years educators income has been far below what it should. With loan repayments, many new teachers don't get out of debt until they are thrity. If the New York City Teacher Unions have to settle for anything it should be a pay of $65,000 and full repayment of student loans. Education should be key. If athletes are payed $100,00O why not the people who educate the world.
We as future educators, parents and students should fight for this and stand ground on something do important. With a pay raise the field will become more competitive causing only yhe best teachers to be involved with our children, our future.
We, the undersigned, urge the Board of Education of New York, it's trustees and Mayor Bloomberg to increase NYC public school teachers salaries to that of any competetive athlete, or white collar worker.
