The town of Waterford, NY does not have a dog park where people can bring their dogs to release their energy.
The town has many fenced in areas that are unused most of the year, such as the tennis court on 4th St., though dog owners are not allowed to let their dogs loose in them where they can run safely off their leash.
We, the undersigned, call on the Town of Waterford, NY to allow the residents of Waterford to use the 4th St. tennis courts to unleash their dogs in a fenced in area when they are not in use by residents playing tennis, especially during the off sport seasons.
A receptacle should be placed outside of the courts for residents to pick up after their dogs, as there are on the trail leading from Waterford to Mechaniville.
The courts are unused most of the time and this would allow dogs owners to exercise their dogs in a cost effective way, rather than creating an actual dog park.
