1. Support a Land Act For Wales

Following the complete occupation of Wales by the Anglo Normans in 1282 - 4 and again, in the 1420's following the War of Independence led by the great Welsh Prince Owain Glyndwr, great areas of Welsh land was either taken by the English Crown or 'given' as rewards to English barons for fighting for England in the Welsh Wars.

Ironically this was repeated by the Tudors in the 16th, who were of 'Welsh Descent', One such example being the Dukes of Somerset being given Mynydd y Gwair and much else throughout Southern Wales. This Mountain is now the centre of a major local issue and national campaign as the Somerset Trust intends to establish a Wind Mill Plantation on it.

Apart from the above, much of Welsh land was common land - which meant that the peasantry had the right to build a smallholding on it as well as hunt and fish but, increasingly over the centuries and up to the present, the Gentry and incoming 'New Conquistadores, such as Iron and Slate Masters began to seize this Common Land by means of Enclosure Acts. The issue of Anglican Church ownership was very much addressed in the Welsh Tithe Wars of 1886 - 88 by a National Land League but there is still much unfinished business to be taken care of.

Today, the aforementioned land is still occupied by the English Crown and the descendents of the English barons and, increasingly, by outside 'Utiliy Companies as in the case of the Vyrnwy Estate, It is being extensively plundered of its natural resources, such as water and timber, and is being savagely destroyed by gigantic windfarms. It is our Welsh herital land and we want it returned to the communities and people of Wales through this Wales Land Act.

2. Do away with On Show levies for estate agents in the Western Cape

Estate Agents in the Western Cape have to pay about R1500 per annum for 6 stickers to enable them to display "On Show" boards on a Sunday afternoon.

This is a very high price to pay to enable them to do their job.

3. Improve safety at the intersection of Roper Road and the Pathways Estate

The lethal intersection of Roper Road with the Pathways Estate has been an ongoing safety issue. A pedestrian pathway on the outside of a sweeping bend, trees on the inside of the bend which restrict vision and no street lighting. Add this to a poorly constructed camber, no line markings and no speed signs from one direction and we have a recipe for ongoing disaster.

This petition is designed to finally get action from the Rural City of Murray Bridge Council to finally modify this corner to substantially improve its safety.

4. Road Safety and more lighting in the Friary community

We the undersigned would like there to be traffic control signs in place at the entrance to Frairy Park Estate, as there are big lorries that use the entrance to reverse into, this has become increasingly worrying for many residents as they have young children playing in this blind spot area.

We would also like to have more lighting erected on the Frairy Park Estate.

5. REPLACE LIFTS IN AVONDALE SQUARE!

All the lifts in Avondale Square Estate need replacing. In particular Procter House and Tovy House they are the ones most likely to break down.

There are 10 - 15 floors in each block, when the lift breaks down elerdly people and mothers with young children have to walk up to 10 floors with shopping and pushchairs.

6. Introduce child and youth playgrounds for Birmingham estates

Our estate has about 400 family built homes on it and one shop and a pub, the rest of the land is waste ground there are no play facilities on the whole estate leaving numerous children with nothing to do.

7. Eliminate the rodent problems at CMHA Estate

Director Phillips:

Apthorp Towers rodents problem is terrible.

Apthorp Towers Residents are asking you to return the Wise Brother Exterminator to CMHA. There were no rodent problem when the Wise Brothers were exterminating the CMHA estates.

8. Complex Suggestions and Complaints

We have on numerous occassions complained about our main gate either getting stuck or not working at all but for years the problem still has not been rectified.

We have been getting complaints about our cars or motorbikes being started up in the mornings before going to work by the residents at Unit 21. None of the other residents mind as they all work. We would like these unlawful complaints to stop. There have also been complaints of the children playing outside.

During the week the children are in there homes before 10:00pm and yet the residents at Unit 21 still complain and shout at the children. We have had instances where they have repremanded the children in a drunken state and many of the residents have witnessed it.

In clause 11.7 in the "Rosslee Agreement of Lease" it clearly states that "you may not cause or commit any nuisance of the property or cause any annoyance or discomfort to other tenants or occupiers of the building." These tenants are continuously inspecting our homes from outside our windows and causing 'discomfort' to the tenants and their children. The tenants are up in arms about the current situation as we all get along and have no complaints about starting our cars in the morning or at any other times.

At the moment most car owners and children are living in fear of the tenants at Unit 21 due to their unfair treatment and constant complaints.

9. "NO PARKING" LINES - HIGH GRANGE HOUSING ESTATE

For the last four years residents of the High Grange Housing Estate have had to live with the passing traffic, and overnight parking of lorries, coming up from the A68 to the Faverdale Industrial Estate.

Although there are many parking areas and roads leading to, and within, the industrial estate which do not affect residents and homes, unfortunately lorries are parking overnight next to residents' homes leaving their engines running for several hours which results in:

- fumes
- noise
- vibration to residents homes
- resident health problems - ie insomnia, stress
- disruption to wildlife
- environmental impact.

10. Evergreen Estate ADSL

When Telstra wired our estate they used a type of pair gain system called a RIM. Basically our phonelines are copper wire to the RIM and then fibre optic cable from the RIM to the Cardiff Telephone Exchange. While this kept Telstra costs down it also denied Evergreen Estate residents the opportunity to connect to the internet via ADSL.

Please sign the petition and visit the Telstra ADSL Demand Register to let Telstra know you want our telecommunications network to support ADSL. In registering your interest in ADSL you are under no obligation to sign up for ADSL.

11. RESIDENTS AGAINST SPEED HUMPS

UNWANTED UNNECESSARY SPEED HUMPS IN THE JUBILEE FIELDS ESTATE.

THESE SPEED HUMPS WERE PUT ON THE ESTATE WITHOUT PROPER RESIDENT CONSULTATION, RESULTING IN DAMAGE TO MOTOR VEHICLES.

WE LIVE HERE AND WANT OUR SAY !!

12. Slough Against the Incinerator Network

The 54-tonnes per hour general waste incinerator and 1-tonne per hour radioactive waste incinerator (at Lakeside Estate, Colnbrook, Slough)proposed by Grundon's will pollute an area with a 17 mile radius, affecting the lives of nearly five million people living in Berkshire, Bucks, Surrey and a large section of west London. The major implications are:
A significant increase in cancers, especially childhood leukaemia and many other problems.

Possible increase in birth defects.

Pollution of air, water and soil, emissions of greenhouse gasses.

Radioactive pollution with unknown results.

Increases in asthma and heart disease.

With the air quality levels already below the standards if the EU and WHO, the poorest health records in the South East and the proposed site being within a densely populated area, this is a highly unsuitable location for a highly unsuitable project. The tragedy is, safer methods of waste disposal exist.

We are urging the Council to scrap the proposed incinerator plans and look at safer alternatives.

13. Abolish increase in Real Estate Tax for 2004

No increase in Westwood Real Estate Tax in 2003!!

We ask that there are no homeowner real estate tax increases in Westwood in 2004!!

14. Preserve 2Pac's Songs

This petition is aimed at getting Amaru/Deathrow records among other owners of 2Pac's unreleased material to think about releasing songs in there original from instead of otherwise remixing them.

15. Get street lights in the Cane estate neighborhood

16. Refurbish the children's park on morriswalk estate
