I belive that the Red Balloon would benifit from atleast one Windows XP computer publicly available.
This would reduce the amount of time it takes to achive certain tasks, and allow certain "Windows Only" applications to be used. The only issued that seems to be stopping this are security and usage.
I believe that security is not an issue if you know how to set it up properly. I also believe that the machine would definately be used reguarly by students in the Red Balloon, but this would be unlikely to result in arguments like "who's turn is it to use the machine" because most of the people surveyed have said they would still enjoy using the Linux and Mac machines as well.
I belive after surveying students and staff at the Red Balloon that the demand for Windows is high. I therefore ask you, Doug, if you would at least run a few weeks trial, starting after Easter, of ONE Windows XP machine, and I willing to provide as much help setting it up as you want.
We, the undersigned, petition for the Red Balloon to run at least one Windows XP computer for public use.
