Vancover Parks Board

Vancouver has been without a dedicated Track & Field facility since 1982 when the Empire Stadium track as removed. The city needs a track and field facility that will allow for the training of school and club athletes, as well as all members of the public in a safe environment and also provide the opportunity to host events to at the provincial level and possibly beyond; at present there is no facility where this is possible.

The lack of such a facility limits the ability of schools and clubs to expose the school age citizens to the sport of track and field.

The Vancouver Parks Board budget planning process for 2012-2014 is just beginning and it is important that the facility is given priority.

Please show your support by signing this petition. The approximate cost of such a facility would be $3.5 million.

We, the undersigned, call for the Vancouver Parks Board to allocate $3.5million to the creation of a dedicated Track and Field Facility in the city of Vancouver in the 2012-2014 budget.
