Lidl is proposing a new foodstore on the land at Oldlands Farm, Bognor Regis, relocating from their existing store at the Peel Centre.
The site is located to adjacent to the Felpham Relief Road (A259), being approximately 400m away from the existing store.

Lidl are proposing to redevelop the site to provide a new single storey neighbourhood foodstore. The store will have a sales area of 1,410m² and a gross internal area 2,159m². The building will be positioned to the rear of the site with the car park located in front of the store, fronting Ringwood Road.

The proposed store will be developed in line with Lidl’s new store concept which was formulated with the view of providing the customer with an improved shopping experience. Accordingly the store will benefit from customer toilets, baby changing facilities and longer tills with bag packing area. The store will be a modern high quality building will have a fully glazed shopfront which will face across the car park towards Felpham Relief Road..

The proposed development will provide 149 car parking spaces to the front of the store including 10 disabled parking spaces, 11 parent and child parking spaces and 2 electric vehicle charging spaces. Car parking will be free to customers. Pedestrian access will be provided along the Oldlands Farm access road. Cycle parking is provided to the side of the store.

Benefits of the Proposed Development

The new Lidl foodstore will provide the following benefits to Bognor Regis and the surrounding area:

• A modern, spacious store which provides the full Lidl range of products which is not possible at the existing store;
• Improved choice and competition in local food shopping with typically 30% cost savings compared to the 'big four' food retailers ;
• The employment of a total of 40 full time equivalent jobs with a mix of part-time and full-time roles;
• The majority of Lidl’s permanent products are sourced from British suppliers, including 100% of our eggs, dairy and fresh meat, which all carry the national Red Tractor logo assuring that they are locally sourced and meet guaranteed farming standards.

Opportunity to comment

The importance of community consultation is well recognised by Lidl, so we are inviting residents within the area of Bognor Regis to voice their opinion on the proposed Lidl store. We hope that everyone will embrace this opportunity to comment on our proposals, whether it be positive or negative. All comments received will be considered when finalising the design of the new foodstore.
