This petition is targeted at the reformation of the 2nd Constitutional Amendment, the right to bear arms.

May 19, 2018

Dear Mr. President, Senators and Congressmen,

I write to you as a concerned citizen of Louisiana and the United States, and hope to speak for many regarding the grave issues we face with gun violence.

How disheartening it is to see how we have diminished the value of humanity; that it is legal for anyone to buy advertising space in the community newspaper and promote whatever they choose, no matter how many souls such an advertisement may kill.

How can we encourage and attempt to instill that our children become positive participants in society, read the newspaper, appreciate its printed news when the newspaper itself condones such advertisements?

How can we teach one another to live in peace when are commercializing and encouraging violence?

As a society, we have enough of a challenge with which to contend by trying, by praying to heal from the sadness for which the abuse of guns and irresponsible use of the law is to blame.

We will never be able to overcome this crisis unless we cease to perpetuate the problem and no longer tolerate the allowance of gun sales and gun trafficking.

Mr. President, Senators and Congressmen, the law must be changed. We must start somewhere. We must do it swiftly and this change can happen through your voice.

Please take a stand for our safety. If for no one else, please make this change for all our children, who deserve the right to be able to go to school and live without fear.

“We, the people, in order to form a more perfect union establish justice, ensure domestic tranquility.”

We, the undersigned, call on you to change the 2nd Amendment of our Constitution and eliminate the sale of arms.
