Whole Foods food delivery service provided to Amazon Prime members uses a certain type of non recyclable aluminum/plastic thermal bag for items that need to be refrigerated. They often place only 1 or 2 items in each of these large bags. As a shopper, you are not given a choice if you want your items delivered in these bags. It creates a tremendous amount of landfill waste. The bags are not accepted anywhere to recycle, including at Whole Foods stores, so they end up in the trash.
We, the undersigned, call on Whole Foods/Amazon to eliminate the use of thermal bags for cold items. At minimum, give an option at check out to pay extra if customer feels they need a thermal bag to deliver their food items (this extra expense Amazon receives can be donated to environmental causes). Or preferrably, create an environmentally friendly alternative altogether.
We are disappointed and frustrated at the massive landfill waste Whole Foods/Amazon is generating by providing these thermal bags.
