Τα Λουτρά Αιδηψού είναι μια κωμόπολη που βρίσκεται στο βόρειο τμήμα του νησιού της Εύβοιας και είναι γνωστή από αρχαιοτάτων χρόνων για τα θεραπευτικά ιαματικά νερά της που αναβλύζουν από τη γη σε θερμοκρασία 85 oC σε όλη την πόλη.
Στις αρχές του 20ου αιώνα κατασκευάστηκε ένα κέντρο υδροθεραπείας στην καρδιά της πόλης – σήμερα γνωστό ως "το παλιό υδροθεραπευτήριο" – που είναι έργο του Ερνέστο Τσίλλερ, διάσημου αρχιτέκτονα του 19ου αιώνα. Το κτήριο βρισκόταν εν λειτουργία, ανοιχτό στο κοινό μέχρι το 1986, όταν το νέο, σύγχρονο και πλήρως εξοπλισμένο κέντρο υδροθεραπείας κατασκευάστηκε και παραδόθηκε στον Ελληνικό Οργανισμό Τουρισμού (ΕΟΤ).
Έκτοτε, το κτήριο εγκαταλείφθηκε από όλους τους δημάρχους τόσο του πρώην Δήμου Αιδηψού όσο και του νέου ενωμένου Δήμου Ιστιαίας-Αιδηψού και καταρρέει μέρα με τη μέρα.
Το κτίριο αυτό αποτελεί αρχιτεκτονική κληρονομιά και πρέπει να αναστηλωθεί άμεσα.
Αξίζει να σημειωθεί ότι η σημερινή Δήμαρχος (από το 2014), κ. Λίνα Ευσταθίου, είναι Αρχιτέκτονας.

Aedipsos spa is a town located in the northern part of Evia island in Greece, well known since the ancient years for its therapeutic thermal water which spouts from inside the earth at a temperature of 85 oC all over the town.
In the early 20th century, a Hydrotherapy Centre was constructed in the center of the town - nowadays known as “the Old Spa Building” – which is the work of Ernst Zille, the 19th century celebrity architect. It was open to public and fully functioning until 1986, when the new, modern and fully equipped Hydrotherapy Center was constructed and handed over to the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
Since then, the Old Spa Building is abandoned by all the Mayors of both the former municipality of Aedipsos and the new joined municipality of Istiea-Edipsos and it is collapsing day by day.
This building should be treated as an Architectural Heritage and must be immediately restored.
It must be mentioned that the current Mayor (since 2014), Mrs Lina Efstathiou, is an Architect.
How ironic !
Εμείς, οι υπογράφοντες, κάτοικοι της Αιδηψού αλλά και «φίλοι» αυτού του τόπου, καλούμε τη Δημοτική Αρχή να αναλάβει πρωτοβουλία για την άμεση επιδιόρθωση του παλιού υδροθεραπευτηρίου.
Αυτό το ιδιαίτερο κτίσμα, όπως και αρκετά άλλα εγκαταλελειμμένα κτήρια, αποτελεί πολιτιστική και αρχιτεκτονική κληρονομιά αυτής της κωμόπολης. Το χειμώνα κατέρρευσε και η δυτική στέγη.
Δεν πρέπει να αδιαφορήσουμε άλλο.
Η ψήφος σου είναι αναγκαία πριν το πετρόχτιστο κτήριο καταστραφεί ολοσχερώς.

We, the undersigned, inhabitants of Aedipsos but also the “friends” of this town, address the Municipality to take the initiative for the immediate restoration the Old Hydrotherapy Building.
This very particular construction, like many other abandoned buildings, is a cultural and architectural heritage of this town. This winter, part of the western roof also collapsed.
You mustn’t be indifferent any more.
Your vote is necessary before the stone-built building is completely destroyed.
