In the Civil War, soldiers of the Confederate army fought a long, hard battle against the Union army.
Many were imprisoned, left to starve in the cold, or killed in battle. Keep the Confederate flag flying, the only symbol of Southern heritage that we've been left!
We, the undersigned, demand that the Confederate flag be shown proudly as a symbol of Southern heritage, instead of hatred, in all American states.
Our flag is history, the only trace of Dixie left that does not disgrace Southerners.
We should be able to fly this great flag proudly without hearing negative comments from abolitionists and liberals.
We demand that you accept this flag as a symbol of history, not slavery or racism.
