Thank you for your devoted support to help save Hurstville Velodrome. Through your support and the clubs relentless activities to promote the cause, we have all been successful in preserving a part of Australia's cycling history.
Hurstville Council has voted in favour of preserving the velodrome and have also pledged their support to gain funding for further enhancements and care.
So on that note, WE WON!
Congratulations to us all for a successful campaign.
Hurstville Oval in Sydney's South has played a significant roll in developing world champions for generations. From the Olympics to Roubaix, this suburban development ground has cultivated some of the finest talent to represent Australia on the world stage.
Decades of blood, sweat and tears have saturated the velodrome starting out as dreams on one day to representing Australia the next. Now, there is a serious threat whereby cashed up sporting codes want to muscle in and take control of the oval to the detriment of the velodrome.
We, the supporters and undersigned of the 'Save the Hurstville Velodrome' petition, call to put a stop to Hurstville Council destroying deep seeded Australian sporting legacy and nostalgia, by allowing cashed up codes to selfishly take over and destroy a part of Australian sporting history.
The Save Hurstville Velodrome petition to Hurstville Council was written by St George CC and is in the category Sports at GoPetition.
