In 2004 the U.S. Government called the atrocities in Darfur genocide...
...3 years later the killing continues.
-More than 450,000 innocent civilians are Dead
-2.5-3 Million are Displaced
-3.5 million depend on food aid
Women are being raped,
and Villages are being bombarded.
It is part of our responsibility as human beings to help these people and end the genocide in Darfur, Sudan, & eastern Chad.
Dear President Bush:
We, The undersigned. are deeply concerned about the continued suffering of civilians in Darfur, Sudan, and eastern Chad. More than four years on, the conflict has led to some of the worst human rights abuses imaginable.
Hundreds of thousands of civilians have been killed by deliberate and indiscriminate attacks, and more than 2.5 million civilians have been displaced.
Time is running out.
We therefore strongly urge you to use the authority of your office to:
-Set a timeline and benchmarks for the deployment of the African Union/UN peacekeeping force in Darfur;
-Protest displaced civilians in neighboring eastern Chad and support a UN presence there;
-Ensure sufficient support for African Union and UN peacekeepers to protect civilians and stabilize the region.
We urge you to stand with other world leaders to actively work to protect human rights in Darfur today.
Citizens of the World!
