It is of my own personal opinion, because my opinion is so important, and it's personal so you can't argue with me because it's how I FEEL, that it's is a crime against humanity that we have a worldwide known landmark located in our town, a landmark in which the powers that be refuse to give proper recognition to.
I've personally watched 'Willy Wonka and the chocolate factory' (The Gene Wilder version, of course, The Johnny Depp remake is just depressing) about 200 times, and each and every time I watch it, I instantly recognise that unmistakably familiar river that I walk past daily... DAILY. I've even been tempted to taste the river at times, but it's common knowledge what happened to Augustus Gloop in the movie (The Gene Wilder original one, not the Johnny Depp remake), and I'm not that silly, or a big fan of chocolate, for that matter.
Me, the unheard voice of Kilkenny town/village, call on Kilkenny County Council to do the right thing, the logical thing, and rename the "River Nore" to "That Chocolate River From The Movie 'Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory' (The Gene Wilder original one, not the Johnny Depp remake"
If we, the unheard people of Kilkenny town/village come together in the renaming and giving this famous river it's deserved title and recognition, this could be our golden ticket (do you get it? Golden ticket, Willy Wonka, do you get it?) to further boosts in tourism due to the popularity of that chocolate river from Willy Wonka And The Chocolate Factory (The Gene Wilder original one, not the Johnny Depp remake....
