Let your voice be heard to protect our local nature path in Northfield. The village of Northfield has chosen to cut corners in its plan for the Skokie Valley Bicycle Trail and pave a 14-foot wide bike path across the walking trail that runs directly behind many residents’ homes along N Happ Road and Edens Lane. The village has long discussed using the abandoned railroad tracks under the ComEd power lines for this project, which everyone agreed with, but the village has recently published plans to divert its paved path from the train tracks to the walking trail. This is against residents wishes and will completely change the character and ecology of the trail. Please contact Melissa DeFeo at 847-784-3554 or mdefeo@northfieldil.org and plan to attend the public meeting on May 29 from 5-7:30pm at 2500 East Lake Ave, to keep Northfield from destroying one of its natural green spaces.

We, the undersigned, call on the Village of Northfield to protect the natural walking path that runs directly behind residents homes on the East side of N Happ Rd and Edens Lane. We would see the Village return to its original proposal to place the 14-foot wide asphalt bike path along the abandoned railroad tracks as previously outlined to avoid the unnecessary destruction of the walking path and invasion of privacy to the residents.
