Glenalmond College has recently come up with a new school rule. “Any pupil caught in possession of an iPod during the daytime will have it confiscated and for it to be returned towards the end of the term.”
As this is a boarding school. We [the pupils of the college] live here on a long term basis. Many of us use our ipods for other than music, revision for example. This is our home as well as the teacher's and we should be allowed to listen to our iPods. Why should the teachers have the right to remove OUR property when it is not harming any teacher, or any person on the campus?
Previously iPods were banned during lesson time. Which was taken as the norm and obeyed by the pupils of the college without any opposition.
We, the undersigned, call upon Glenalmond College to review the use of iPods during daytime, and to allow the use of iPods during the day, but not during lessons or other times of inappropriate use.
