For a significant period of time, the gaming community has been debating the topic of microtransactions in video games. Not until recently has this topic really started to pick up. Gamers everywhere are now raising their voices (in this case slamming their keyboards) in protest against the video game Battlefront II, which is published by EA. In Battlefront II, players need to unlock certain abilities or heroes (such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader). In order to do this, they need a certain amount of credits. You unlock credits by playing the game. One would think that the amount of credits you earn is directly linked and based on how well you do in a match. In this case, however, every player will earn the same amount of credits, no matter what the scoreboard says. This means, that you could literally just stand in a corner of the map and wait for the match to be over and you would still earn as many credits as the top player on your team. One reddit user calculated that in order to unlock one of the two most expensive heroes, and one could argue the two most well known jedi in the Star Wars lore, Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader, you would have to spend 40 hours in the game's multiplayer mode. One of them. EA did reduce the cost of 60,000 required credits by 75% but some gamers are still arguing that that is not enough, EA did also release a statement saying that they have now removed all in-game purchases. Temporarily.

Enough is enough. We as gamers will no longer accept paying for features that should be included for free in the base game that you paid 60 USD for - therefore, we as a community is now demanding that EA remove and and all microtransactions in their game that provides a significant advantage over new players - or we will boycott.
