Back in 2017 the Jordan School District released a Construction Bid to upgrade the football field to turf and construct a stadium entrance with Ticket booth, Concession Stand and restrooms.
The Concession Stand area was only a portion of the bid and was listed as an alternate. The bids came in high so the Jordan School District did not pick up the alternate portion of the construction project. However West Jordan did receive the new Turf field and moved their home crowd to the East Side. By moving the home crowd to the East side the families, student and fans have no faciliies that are accessible within the stadium area.
We are now being told that construction of the stadium entrance, Ticket booth, concession stand and bathrooms are not a high priority of the Jordan School District.

West Jordan High Schools Families, Students and friends request that the Jordan School District reconsider the construction project for the stadium entrance, concession stand with rest rooms
This project is necessary to bring the WJHS Jaguar Stadium up to compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act and Safety standards.
We would like to make you aware that Title III of the ADA act clearly prohibits private places of public accommodation from discriminating against individuals with disabilities. The key goals of the ADA are to ensure that all people with disabilities have equality of opportunity, self-sufficiency, and to participate in everyday life.
At WJHS a person with Disabilities must travel 924 Ft. from the Concession stand to the rest rooms on the east side of the stadium or 530 Ft (up hill) to the rest rooms on the West Side.
Wheelchair seating must be on an accessible route that provides access from parking area, and that connects to public area, including Concessions, and restrooms .
Another concern is there in no Drinking fountains within or around the stadium. Drinking fountains need to be accessible and accommodate people who are in wheelchairs or that stand.
The Concession Stand at WJ Football Games is running out of a concession Trailer which bring up multiple safety concerns. There is 300 Ft. of extension cords, 2 power supplies plugged into a nearby power supply box. This is necessary to run the equipment, and to provide ourselves with Lighting. Electrical safety states keep extension cords away from sources of heat and water. This is an impossible task for many reason the trailer is not water tight, and we need sources of heat to prepare food to sale at home games to raise money for the student athletes of West Jordan.
In regards to the multiple footage of extension cords this is a safety concern not only the electrical safety but to the trip hazard. Over 4000 extension cord related injuries are treated in hospitals each year. Fact: half of the reported injuries are lacerations, contusions and sprains from people tripping over extension cords.
At WJHS, there is no permanent lighting provide for those working in the concession area. Lighting not only provides the feeling of being safe, but it is an integral to crime prevention.
We at West Jordan also are requesting the consideration of home locker rooms. The lockers rooms will make it so both teams won’t enter and exit through the same public accessibility routes. This will minimize conflict in those routes.
In closing we ask that the Jordan School District put the Construction project out to bid to bring the WJHS Stadium in compliance. Consider our goal to keep the families, fans and students safe so we can enjoy Friday Night Lights without any source of Liability.
