There are many dogs in this area of northern Queens (Flushing, Murray Hill, Queensboro Hill), plenty of green space, but a lack of fenced in places where the dogs can run, play, exercise. As a result many dog owners let their dogs run off leash in open areas, risking getting ticketed and being forced to accept less than safe circumstances for people and pups.
We're looking to establish at least one dog park that is within walking distance of the Flushing/Murray Hill/Queensboro Hill area so that being in parks is safe for anyone who goes to parks. The benefits to community safety affect everyone - not just dog owners and dogs.
We, residents and visitors of the Flushing, Murray Hill, Queensboro Hill area of Queens, New York, are signing this petition to express the need and desire for a dog park (large and small dogs separated) in our neighborhood. We believe that this will increase quality of life significantly for us and our dogs, as it provides a safe place to gather, allows for exercise, and encourages community development.
