#Government
Target:
Philippine government, Department of Trade and Industry
Region:
Philippines

The Philippines is one of the countries which was greatly affected by the pandemic virus Covid 19 and because of this most if not all of the regions were under lockdown, including the whole Luzon and Metro Manila. This started March 15 and was just announced - will be extended until May 15, so this is a total of 2 months. On those 2 months a lot of people are not able to work, so imagine not having any income on those 2 months and not ALL are receiving assistance from the government.

We, the undersigned, call on the Philippine government and the Department of Trade and Industry to request all Telecommunication and Utility companies to please waive at least 1 month of their service during this Covid 19 crisis. The country (most regions, including NCR) has been on lockdown since March 15 and will be until May 15 - on those 2 months a lot of people are not able to work. No income for 2 months and not ALL are getting assistance from the government, especially the middle class. We understand that these companies have already announced that they will not ask for payments during the lockdown but I hope the government would realize what will happen after the lockdown. All bills would pile up - water, electricity, house rental, telephone, internet, loans, credit cards. People doesn’t have work for 2 months, where are they going to get the money to pay all these? Are we not going to eat anymore just to pay all these? We’re not even sure if this lockdown would be extended again after May 15 or when this crisis would end, but one thing is sure - we can always find a way to help each other and ease the burden. We’re asking the government - please help the Filipinos.
