Dear Mr. Trappier,
We are writing this letter to ask your support in an attempt to stop the war and massacre of civilians in Yemen.
The war in Yemen and the resulting humanitarian crisis led to a dramatic situation in the country with over 20,000 civilian victims between March 2015 and March 2021.
Seven years of conflict have forced more than 4 million people to flee their homes, and an estimated 20 million people are in need of humanitarian assistance.
Pope Francesco prayed for the people of Yemen, and he said: "The country is exhausted by war. The population is exhausted by the long conflict and many children suffer from hunger: their cry and that of their parents rise to the sight of God".
In recent years military intervention (led by Saudi Arabia) has bombed large civil areas.
We ask for an immediate halt to arms exports and sales to Saudi Arabia.
We ask for all the support necessary to make it possible to stop the serious violations of human rights in Yemen.
We ask for humanitarian corridors.
We ask for support for Yemeni families on the run.
The people of Yemen deserve all our support for a return to peace and a better future.
