The fare for the passengers taking Route 94 from the Boca Raton Trirail station to Florida Atlantic University administration building or Palm Beach State College Boca Raton campus used to be free of charge with a paid train ticket.

Effective April 3rd, Palm Tran raised this fee to $0.50 each way. This could put significant burdens on FAU's students. If one attends FAU five days of the week, he has to bear 20 dollars of extra expenses per month.
In june 2009, the Trirail raised the fare by 25 percent. We cannot take any more fare increase in public transportation.

FAU encourages students to use public transportation as it has serious traffic around the campus. Now, with this fee hike, less students will be taking the public transportation;therefore it will result in even more heavy traffic around the campus.

Taking public transportation is environmentally friendly. Palm Tran is strived to make that commitment. However, if it lost large amount of passengers, it will lose their mission.

We, undersigned, call on the Palm Tran to stop the fare hike on Route 94.

The fare from Trirail Boca Raton station to Florida Atlantic University and vice versa used to be free of charge with a paid Trirail ticket. Effective April 3, 2011, Palm Tran raised this fare to $0.50 each way.

FAU encourages students to use public transportation. Now, with this fee hike, less students will be taking the public transportation;therefore it will result in even more heavy traffic around the campus. This fare hike on Route 94 is unfair. We need to stop this.
