Say No To Clearway Extensions
- Victorian State Government
From July 1, clearways within 10km of the city centre will operate from 6.30-10am and 3-7pm. Most clearways presently operate from 7-9am and 4.30-6.30pm.
Toorak Village Traders Association president Tony Fialides said trading would be cut to only five hours a day.
“There has been no consultation with any of the groups or the local Councils, only a high handed announcement that these extensions will take place,” Mr Fialides said.
Fialides added that “traders and residents in the affected areas have become victims in a piece of legislation that will lead to the destruction of many iconic, inner city retail shopping strips.”
If you do not agree with the State Governments plan to extend clearway times within a 10km radius of Melbourne’s CBD, show your support by signing the petition and by contacting local member Tony Lupton MP, Premier John Brumby & Tim Pallas, MP Minister for Roads & Ports.
