Over the years the sea front leisure facilities at the seaside resort of Seaburn has been drastically reduces and areas of former leisure land have be redeveloped for both housing and retail use.

The City of Sunderland Council is required to identify land for housing. Areas of prime leisure land has been provisional identified by developers for housing.

It is felt that if these developement were to be carried out it would destroy the resorts appeal and attraction as a seaside resort and the people of Sunderland would suffer.

We, the undersigned, request that the council takes all steps within its powers to prevent the removal of the leisure facilities on the Seaburn sea front for the purpose of developing the land for housing.

Large areas of land, previous used for leisure, have already been developed for both housing and retail use in this sea front area. Any future reduction in leisure facilities will severely affect Seaburn ability to attract visitors to this wonderful seaside resort.

We seek from our council an undertaking not to demolish the leisure facilities on Seaburn sea front for any housing developments.
