News came in late January 2008 that many Fylde leisure centres, such as Kirkham & Wesham and St Annes Swimming Pools, Fairhaven Lake's leisure facilities and Lowther Pavillion will be closed because of categoric stupidity by our useless Fylde council.

Their unbelievable budgeting errors have led to a cash shortfall, making these places unaffordable to run. This is the same council spending hundreds of thousands of pounds refurbishing their town halls, and doling out thousands to councillors as "expenses".

The closure of Lowther Pavillion in particular would be a disaster for Lytham, and the surrounding area. A hub for amateur dramatics throughout the south Fylde coast, this venue gives affordable facilities to many dramatic productions, to unsigned bands willing for a big break and, obviously, as a place where the population of the area can go and enjoy an enjoyable evening's entertainment. There are no other facilities in the area; without this lifeline of a theatre, there would be nowhere for these organisations to go.

I therefore ask you to PLEASE sign this petition. The Lowther Pavillion is a lifeline to the local area and must not be lost!

I wholeheartedly object to the local Council's decision to shut the well used Lowther Pavillion and I wish to see it remain open for a long time to come!
