Waverley Council

Australia

The events and hospitality industry has been decimated over the past few years. Nonetheless, Waverley Council intends to introduce changes to its Events Policy that will make it even harder for a vast array of wonderful events to be staged at Bondi Beach. These changes, which are at odds with trends across the country of removing red-tape, will limit much needed economic benefits, as well as the diversity of events, and subdue vibrancy. Help make a stand against more rules and restrictions which will result in Bondi Beach becoming an increasingly sterile social environment and let Council know you don't need them to tell you can enjoy your beach.

The best events in Australia, and the world, are commercial and entail some degree of responsible alcohol consubmption, The Surf Clubs themselves, perched a few metres from the beach, sell and serve alcohol weekly, if not daily.

We, the undersigned, call upon Waverley Council to refrain from imposing any further restrictions on events at Bondi Beach. Some of the best events in Australia, and indeed across the world, are necessarily commercial, and entail responsible service of alcohol. These should not be Policy Factors preventing any event from being considered on its merits.

We ask Council to refrain from imposing further rules and restrictions which will impede a vast array of wonderful events taking place at Bondi Beach, and instead focus on how to revitalise Bondi by attracting more world class events.
