With decades of highly regarded service to the community, the positive legacy of the Teen Center speaks for itself.
The economic and social challenges of today required the development of a wholly and locally based leadership team, along with a new 501(c)(3) status.
With a clean, mutually-agreed upon and respectful breakout from under the auspices of Youth for Christ, the center has entered a new era with its whole focus on it’s legacy as a significant part of Elk Grove’s past, present and future. The new governing board of directors is composed entirely of Elk Grove residents with an outstanding variety of business and professional backgrounds and has come together committed to extend the center’s legacy of service well into the future.
With a present risk of losing funding and facility support from the City of Elk Grove, it is with this statement that we state that the goals of rebuilding and sustaining the center's legacy cannot be accomplished without the city’s ongoing commitment and delivery of support.
As a non-profit institution that actively provides a safe environment for all teens, including the increasing niche of at-risk and in-risk youth in our community, we ask the City of Elk Grove Council and Staff to sustain current levels of grant funding and facility usage support to the Teen Center into the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
