The Russell County Training School/Russell High School Alumni has placed before the City Council of City of Hurtsboro a request to rename Railroad Street, the street which runs directly in front our high school to Luther Weatherly Boulevard. This request has been "tabled" by the council in its July meeting.
All graduates of both schools know that Mr. Weatherly, our principal for many, many years, positively influenced both students and residents of Hurtsboro. One of our association's goals is to do positive things in Hurtsboro and to give its youth positive alternatives to what now exists.
The association believes that this name change to Railroad Street would help galvanized this effort. If you agree with this, please sign our petition.
We, the undersigned, call on the City Council of Hurtsboro, Alabama to change to name of Railroad Street in Hurtsboro, Alabama to Luther Weatherly Boulevard.
