Florida is the hottest state year round in the United States of America. So one a normal day we would all want just a slip of water form a water bottle here and there, but how much plastic from the water do we waste every day. According to Florida planning.org, Floridians generated approximately 9.12 pounds of waste per person per day on average in 2014,and that’s just Florida. According to ban the bottle.net, Americans used about 50 billion plastic water bottles last year. One water pitcher filter can effectively replace as much as 300 standard 16.9-ounce bottles. So you can get great-tasting water without so much waste. According to Penn State’s “Mathematics for Stability: Fall 2017”, reusable water bottles are lead and BPA free, which is beneficial to your well-being. It also states that one person switching to reusable can save 217 bottles from going to a landfill. In a time where recycling and reuse is becoming an important part of our life, schools don’t seem to be getting on board. Reusable water stations are just one way to limited the waste overall. Adding these not only in schools but in local parks can help cut down the plastic waste overall. Please help us get one step closer to saving our state.

We, the undersigned, call on the Florida Sentor's Bill Nelson and Marco Rubio to reduce the use of plastic water bottles by adding in refillable water station in schools.
