A new proposal threatens our community by allowing Lakeshore Recycling Systems’ existing facility to construct a garbage waste transfer station just down the road.

If plans are approved by the City of West Chicago, Lakeshore Recycling Systems will be able to receive 3,000,000 pounds of garbage per day! It would take an additional 300 trucks on our streets every day just to handle that increase in capacity. That means more litter, increased odors, more traffic resulting in wear and tear on our roads, lowering our property values and hurting our environment. If plans are approved, West Chicago would have a second garbage waste transfer station within just a couple of blocks of one that already exists. Even big cities like Chicago don’t have garbage waste transfer stations within five miles of each other – West Chicago doesn’t need two!

Please join us: tell elected officials that represent West Chicago on the local, county and state level that our city should not be Chicagoland’s garbage capitol.
