Protect Skyline Rd: Keep Commercial Traffic Off Our Residential Street

Skyline Rd in Mustang Ridge has long been a quiet, residential street where families live, walk, and raise children. In recent years, the surrounding area—particularly along Highway 21—has experienced significant growth, bringing new businesses and increased traffic. While we support responsible development and the growth of our community, it is important that this growth does not negatively impact existing neighborhoods.

There are current plans for an AutoZone to be built at the intersection of Highway 21 and Skyline Rd. As proposed, this development includes an access point from Skyline Rd into the business. This raises serious concerns among residents about increased cut-through traffic, higher vehicle speeds, and reduced safety for those who live on this street.

Skyline Rd is not designed to handle commercial traffic. Additional entry access from a high-traffic highway business will likely lead to more non-resident vehicles using the street for convenience, increasing congestion and the risk of accidents. This is especially concerning for families with children, pedestrians, and cyclists who regularly use the area.

There are alternative access options available from Highway 21 that would allow the business to operate successfully without directing traffic into a residential neighborhood. Preventing an entrance from Skyline Rd would help preserve the safety, character, and quality of life for current residents while still allowing for commercial growth in the area.

For these reasons, we respectfully request that local officials and decision-makers deny any plans that include access to this development from Skyline Rd.
