Target:
Princeton Regional School administrators
Region:
United States of America

The purpose of this petition is to strongly urge reconsideration of the decision to not rehire Mr. Ken Zampella, who has been a music teacher in the Princeton Regional School system, specifically at the John Witherspoon Middle School.

During his three years served in the district he has helped to transform the middle school jazz band program, having expanded the jazz program to include the seventh grade students. Under his guidance, both the seventh and eighth grade jazz bands have had the opportunity to experience competition in two festivals.

In addition, Mr. Zampella volunteered his time to work with the competition prep band at Princeton High School, guiding them through two competitions.

Mr. Zampella's successful contribution to the PRS music program is based on his outstanding ability to work with these young people.

The district's jazz program has been growing for several years, having added teaching staff at all levels. The hiring of Ken Zampella seemed another very positive move so, given his accomplishments in his time here, the decision to release him seems counter to these improvements. Succinctly, we are about to throw away a true asset.

Those undersigned wish to express their support for Mr. Zampella's renewal and urgently and respectfully request that the PRS administration revisit this decision.

UPDATE: This petition was presented to PRS administrators at the May 20 board meeting. Due to continuing interest, signatures will continue to be collected for presentation at the June 17 board meeting.
