The religious studies department at Willamette has unjustly left Islam out of its curriculum. Islam is the world's second largest religion, making up 21% of the world's faith.
An introduction to this fascinating and controversial religion would be very helpful to understanding a culture that many students from the west have not experienced. I believe that it is imperative that we have a class on Islam taught in the very near future.
We, the undersigned, call to Willamette university to create a position for a teacher with a knowledgeable background in Islamic culture and religion.
