Petition for moderate senators to establish a rational center party
- Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) Sen. Ben Sasse (R-Neb.) Sen. Heidi Heitka
- United States of America
During the past few decades, we have seen the polarization of America. Not in over a generation have we experienced as deep a divide between liberals and conservatives, rich and poor, white America and its cultural minorities, as we see today.
With both chambers of congress controlled by only one party and a Supreme Court that will almost certainly be ideologically skewed, we lack the checks and balances that protect and ensure the most basic values of our society.
It is for these reasons that we, citizens of the United States of America, amongst them residents of the states of Arizona, Maine, North Dakota, Nebraska and West Virginia, ask you to take bold action and split from your parties to form a “Rational Center” party that can restore some balance to our government.
A center party can end the tyranny of extremism that has plagued our political system for some time. It can effectively take control of the Senate and not only ensure that Supreme Court and Cabinet appointments are done in a manner that truly represent the moderate will and culture of most Americans, but also that committee chairs in the Senate truly reflect the principles of freedom and democracy that are enshrined in our constitution.
We ask that you act, not for the good of your party, but for the good of the country, to stop the divisiveness of an extremism that at the end will only weaken the United States both internally and internationally.
