The current crossing provision on the A167 at Chester Moor is not fit for purpose and dangerous. Residents and the public have to run the gauntlet to cross 4 lanes (dual carriage way) on a very busy stretch of road. Many of the residents of this ex-mining community are elderly and extremely vulnerable when crossing the road. Furthermore, the public, many of whom are young children that use the local amenities (for example the 3G pitch at Chester le Street Town Football Club) are put in danger each and every time they have to cross the road. We strongly believe that to prevent a tragedy we need to act now and lobby the local authority to provide us with an appropriate crossing on this very busy and dangerous stretch of road.

We, the undersigned, call on Durham County Council to provide a Pedestrian Crossing (Pelican or Puffin) on the A167 at Chester Moor.

The Pedestrian Crossing on the A167 at Chester Moor petition to Durham County Council was written by Chester Moor Residents Association and is in the category Roads & Transport at GoPetition.
