Orangeville District Secondary School has had a complete ban on hats and other headwear since the second semester of last year (January, 2003). As it has been proven so far, the only thing this ban accomplishes is to create dispute between teachers and students as the former try to do their job as they are told. Several students have had their hats lost by or stolen out of the office (some going for prices of $40 and up), and have not been reimbursed for the lost value. Administration does not recognize student's needs for individuality and freedom. As students in a public school system, the right to voice an opinion needs to be granted.

I am concerned with the violation of my freedom of expression that is taking place at O.D.S.S. in the form of banning hats, and I desire the rules to be changed to allow hats to be worn.
