PROPOSAL TO AMEND THE WIDENING OF HARRISBURG ROAD TO 5 LANES IN JONESBORO, AR

We, the undersigned citizens of Jonesboro, Arkansas strongly oppose the widening of Harrisburg Road to 5 lanes past Gladiolus Drive. We recommend to the AR State Highway Department and the City of Jonesboro that Harrisburg Road consist of 5 lanes from Parker Road to Gladiolus Drive and then 3 lanes, one which will be a turning lane, to Links Drive. Providing 3 lanes to Links Drive will improve the flow of traffic in this area. There are only 5 businesses on South Harrisburg Road. We feel that the widening to 5 lanes will promote more commercial business and multi-family housing on Harrisburg Road. Currently South Harrisburg Road is mainly residential. Also, it will be impossible for people to turn left from Forest Hill Rd onto Harrisburg Rd. Crossing 4 more lanes of traffic will be too dangerous without a stop light.
