South Burnett Regional Council

Australia

The South Burnett Regional Council has recently received an application from a resident at 168 Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Road to operate a Trucking Station within the rural residential zone.

The South Burnett RC has blatantly jumped on the 'Biker Friendly Shire' bandwagon without even considering what that entails.
This particular road where this Trucking Station is proposed to be allowed is regularly used for tourists, vintage bike/car runs, club rides and regular riders to access the Bunya Mountains, events at Maidenwell and as a general social route around the Shire.
Simple logistics, other than the fact it shouldn't be located in a residential zoned area, is putting people lives at risk (and annoying the crap out of locals)

This industrial heavy haulage business should not even be considered to base their operations within this quiet rural residential locality. By Council description the majority of the area is Category 6 - Rural, while we are charged Category 920 - Rural Residential.

Council tried to sneak this application quietly through in February as a Home Based Business, whereby you had no official say in their decision, but were caught out.
There were advised legally of their mistake and now the owner has to re-apply as a Trucking Station, an impact assessable application, whereby you CAN OBJECT to this industry being allowed to operate.

In 2005, the Department of Natural Resources devalued 10 rural residential blocks along Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Rd by over $10,000 each due Council allowing the expansion of a local feedlot and it's proximity to residents. A Trucking Station may well have the same effect on your valuation within the area.
As well as signing this petition, you can also voice your concerns to the CEO, Mayor and Councillors over this mater and tell them NOT to pass any application for a trucking station.

Or write a letter & take to any Council office or mail to SBRC, PO Box 336, Kingaroy 4610

If they ignore your written concerns and pass this application at Council, there will be an official notification in the paper and an information sign displayed at the premise giving limited time to lodge an official objection to their decision. This is the most important stage and must be followed through, otherwise you have no legal rights to voice any further objection and they take it as your consent to operate is given.

We have had to tolerate these heavy haulage vehicles using exhaust brakes at early & late hours 7 days a week, dust, noise, lights, diesel fumes, idling trucks for hours, maintenance work continuing after-hours, reversing beepers, extra heavy vehicles destroying the single lane goat track road, endangering motorists lives and it will only get worse if passed through Council.

This business has had continual complaints lodged against them while illegally operating over several years, now they have been forced to make an application and Council need to be directed to close this operation down.

I do not consider that any application for a Trucking Station, which is an industrial style business, should be allowed within the Brooklands rural or rural residential area. All current trucking and heavy haulage movements should be halted immediately from the site.
I request that Council do not pass the current application or any future application for such operations from 168 Brooklands Pimpimbudgee Road, Brooklands, Qld 4615.
