We the teenagers of Craven County School District feel strongly about the uniforms and would like to inform you of somethings since we never really get a chance to say how we feel about any of this. I'm using this as an opportunity to speak out for the thousands of voices that were hushed or told this decision is made.
I am not criticizing the decision of my teachers or school board, I am just asking them to take the time and sit and talk with a student and ask them has uniforms benefited us or is the behavior still the same at many high schools? The answer to these questions will surprise many of these teachers to have a student speak how they feel but I thought that's what we are supposed to be able to do have a voice freedom of speech.
In my school they are now enforcing a strict dress code that will next year turn into something like elementary uniforms. I feel that for grade levels k-8 this is understanding but for grades 9-12 this is an outrage.
We as teens or as we are being noticed now as growing adults feel we should be able to wear what we want to have some since of freedom. We are not asking to dress like the girls on music videos or the thugs and hoodlums you say some of us dress like we are not all like this. There are still kids out there who want to be successful so we dress as such.
I think we should be given the chance to prove ourselves once more to show the entire Craven County District we can abide by the rules and if they don't feel that the teens are doing this discipline those who think the rules don't apply to them.
So please if you agree we should be given another chance I am asking of you to sign this petition to help the ones who realize that not showing all of your body is a good thing and so is following the rules.
