The petition for the suggested South Palmer Prison site in Palmer, AK has been closed. And a long time coming. LOL! Sorry it has taken so long to close this thing. I wanted to make absolutely sure that they have decided not to build it here.
I want to thank each & every one of you who supported our cause & helped us deterr the Borough from building here. It was all very hard work but worth every penny & ounce of effort! I, for one, would do it all over again to protect this area & our homes/families.

The Mat-Su Borough would like to build a "Mega Prison" here in the Mat Su valley. Palmer South (#14) is the main site they have their eye on.
This prison will house up to 2,251 inmates & will be a high security prison. Also will be up to 800,000 square feet & placed on over 400 acres. It will have lights galore & noise polution as well. You can't hide the parking lot lights alone.
It will stick out like a sore thumb & be the first thing that people, including tourists, will see. Who would want to live here?!
This is a petition to stop the Mat-Su Borough from building a Mega Prison at the Palmer South (#14) site. This prison will be a huge eye sore & will put our families in potential danger from escapees. It will also put a halt to this community/town from expanding. Our property values will plummet as well. Not to mention the noise & light pollution.
This site is wrong in so many ways. We NEED to have a major outpouring of comments sent to the Assembly members & get people at the meetings to fight it, or it "WILL go here". Do you want this to be the new home of this massive prison? Let's keep on top of this & give them a fight together.
