There is insufficient telecommunications signal in the local area which stops local businesses from operating successfully. Not only is it an inconvenience to local businesses, it is a nuisance to anyone that needs to communicate with others in an immediate situation.
Recently, during the week of the Karoonda Farm Fair, local businesses could not use their EFTPOS machines, internet or mobile phones due to the local tower not being able to deal with the amount of usage. After having a similar meltdown in 2017, it was promised that the issue would be fixed by the 2018 Karoonda Farm Fair, which did not occur.
We, the citizens of Karoonda and surrounding districts, petition there to be more telecommunication towers installed in the area, as well as current ones upgraded, to allow us to have more reliable phone and internet coverage.
We demand that our local members of parliament, Adrian Pederick and Tony Pasin, take this issue to state and federal governments to make sure that more reliable and widespread telecommunication coverage is obtained in our local area.
