The Road Safety Act 2006 is still not in place, therefore more and more people in our situation will find themselves fighting for justice.
In November 2007, a Dutch lorry driver was fined £1,000 for causing the death of our 19 year old daughter and her unborn child because of his irresponsible, careless and dangerous driving.
The reason he was only fined was because the crown prosecuton service decided to reduce the charge from 'causing death by dangerous driving' to 'careless driving'. Unfortunately this happened shortly before the Road Safety Act 2006, which will create a new offence of "causing death by careless, or inconsiderate driving", was due to come into force.
We are attempting to get justice for Rachel by asking for this act to be passed in time to allow this sentence to be appealed.
