Dear Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and State Legislators,
The undersigned companies call on the continued support from Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois General Assembly to immediately award the social equity cannabis licenses that have been delayed.
In addition to thousands of people who applied for cannabis licenses, the state-caused delays have hurt many small and medium-sized businesses who invested in supporting this industry.
Companies ranging from accounting, lab testing, and staffing, to medical and technology providers, for example, heard those promises and invested in Illinois by hiring people, buying equipment, securing property, and opening local offices.
The cannabis licensing delays are stifling thousands of businesses in the state, creating significant and irreparable damage to Illinois’ already hurting economy.
We ask the Governor to act immediately in signing the bill and award the year-long overdue licenses for social equity licenses in Illinois.
